Chapter 16: action your on camera

"where are they? I have a prom planning meeting at 5. They know I can't miss it. i am the one that has to help with the finishing touches to go over. but if I don't make it" I must have shown how much that thought worried me. 

"Hannah stop. you will be able to make it.

"right, right I'm sorry."

"so what do you think your mom was doing in here? there's nothing but dust and gym equipment" Jack said looking at the gym equipment. reaching down and picking up a 30-pound height he lifts it over his head. he made this grunt as though pretending it was heavy.

"you know what Mom has been acting weird lately. when I would ask her what was up she would just look at me blankly then almost as though she realized what she was doing she would say 'noting honey why would you say that?" I explained 

"weird." a shiver ran through me just then.

"It scares me, Jack. what if mom doing something dangerous. what if being in here isn't safe?"

"come on what's standing in front of you?" that made me roll my eyes.

"well i guess am safe with the world strong man here" At that, he raised an eyebrow and got into the position where he flexed his left mustle and held the weight with his hand outstretched. 

Suddenly his eyes lit up toward something behind me.

when I turned around I jumped back horrified and fell into Jack's arms

a horrifying voodoo monster mask was a few feet away from me.

"hell ya. you owe me 20 Mitchell" Ben said laughing and almost doubling over.

"Are you freaking serious? betting on scaring me! you guys are jackasses" I exclaimed

"Hey at least we're not damsels in distress falling into Mister princes arms" Ben quipped

"Ya, so I lied," Arron said walking over to me and jacks side.

"you're so lucky you're my best friend otherwise I would seriously do some ass-whooping. you ok Hannah?" Ben asked 

"Ya, I'm fine. I had a knight in shining armor to catch me after the ugly snotty dragon tried to make me fall to my firey death," I said this giving Ben a death glare.

"I guess it was kind of low," Ben said looking embarrassed

"Kind of?" I repeated

"ok, so it was a full low blow. I'm sorry" he said with sincerity on his face

"it's ok just don't do it again. you know how I feel about being some pawn whether it was a joke or not." 

"need a hug?" Ben asked "I just gave him a death stare again.

"don't give me that look," Ben said actually looking kind of hurt. god, he's such a goober.

"fine" I exclaimed and let him walk up.

While he wrapped me in a hug there were lights that blinked different colors and it was moving toward us fast.

"Finally it's actually working," Mitchell said excitedly

"I'm assuming that's why you're late?" I said irritated. 

"sorry I thought you would understand as I am in ap robotics and am making a signal jammer 3000" Everyone was just looking at him. clearly, he was annoyed and I realized it was my turn to apologize. 

"I'm sorry. I'm just tense. my mom was in here earlier for some reason. it just feels wrong in here. So you finished it finally?" I asked

he hit a few buttons on the machine and then told us to pull out our phones.
