Kai headed home to the cathedral, mentally preparing himself for the amount of homework that awaited him. Kai jumped across the different heights of the roofs, his thick-soled books slapping against the cold concrete. He stopped just before a large drop off to catch his breath. He strung two of his fingers in the piece of his mask that went around his ear and pulled down the molded piece of silver metal. He breathed in a deep sigh of the semi-fresh air of New York.
He jumped down to street level and strolled through the crisp night. On occasion, a pain would flare up in his right ankle, igniting his leg up to his knee. Kai barely noticed it.
He passed by a store with its windows still lit up. Probably a ploy to not get robbed, Kai thought. He looked into one of the windows but could only focus on his mangled appearance staring back at him. Hesitantly, Kai reached a hand up and felt around his neck. No, his reflection was not lying. Kai had terrible bruising around his neck from where the purple turtle's staff had pressed up against it. Now the other students at school would definitely get the wrong impression.

It was about three in the morning by the time Kai got back to the cathedral from his night's patrol.
It was four-thirty by the time he had finished his homework, and even then, it was only half finished. But Kai was too tired to try and understand calculus. He flopped on his bed, still dressed in his battle gear-- which consisted of his usual clothes, holsters and sheathes for his weapons-- and immediately fell into unmemorable dreams.
It was six when Kai woke up to someone spam texting him. It was weird because Kai did not give his number out to anyone. The only ones that had his number were TigerClaw, FishFace, Shredder, and his sister.
Kai thought that it was Karai and quickly snatched his phone from the desk and groaned at the pain in his shoulder. He blinked sleepily at the bright screen and was instantly confused. It was a random number that he did not recognize. A call suddenly came up on the screen with the same number as the texts. Reluctantly, Kai answered, knowing that he could easily trace the phone call and kill whoever had figured out his number.
"Hello?" Kai asked.
"Yo, Kai!" a familiar voice shouted on the other side of the phone. Kai winced and held the phone away from his ear. He could still hear the person talking. "Where ya at, man?"
"What?" Kai said, still half asleep and not able to understand anything at the moment.
"Oh," the voice said. "It's me, Casey. Ya know, from school? The one who ya promised to come to my hockey game that's starting in five minutes?"
"Casey?" Kai asked. "What?"
"Did ya just wake up?" Casey asked. Kai could hear the screams of people in the background chanting something about vikings.
"Yes?"
"Bro, seriously. How late were you up last night?"
"Doesn't matter," Kai said, quickly shutting down the question. "I'll be there in a few. Send me the coordinates?"
"Ya mean the address?" Casey asked. He was used to Kai using different words and just went along with it. Kai heard Casey pause for a second. "Sent. See ya at the game, man. I'll be the one scoring all the points."
"You wish," Kai said with a slight laugh. He tossed his blanket off of him and stood up from the bed. He headed to his dresser.
"Hey! Not funny, dude! I could beat ya anyday," Casey sputtered.
