After a wonderful meal of McDonald's fries and Casey constantly making fun of Kai's hospital hoodie, Karai dropped Casey off at his apartment. It was definitely odd riding around in a car when the two boys had the subway station and walked everywhere their whole lives. Casey opened his side door and climbed out. Kai followed him with a suspicious glance from his sister. He narrowed his eyes at Karai, although he didn't actually mean it.

Once again, the two boys were standing in front of Casey's apartment, looking up at the brick facade as the setting sun's rays shone on it. Casey looked down at Kai with a worried expression.

"Are you good?" he asked. "Ya look pale."

"I'm fine," Kai said, raising a hand to wave away the concern. "We did just escape the hospital. And I got stabbed. "

Casey just hummed. He had no idea how to respond to that. They looked at each other, wanting to say so many things but not being able to say any of it. They both jumped at the sound of Karai honking the car's horn.

"Hurry it up, lovebirds!" she shouted out the open window.

Kai rolled his eyes. He missed his sister. Even though they had never actually met face to face, it had been months since the last time they called. The turtles had occupied most of Kai's time as the Shadowman-- a stupid name, if you asked him. He looked back up at Casey. He was going to get serious neck pain if he didn't grow anymore. Casey was too tall. But the way that Casey's dark eyes were staring into Kai's soul made him feel like there were insects in his stomach.

"I should probably go now," Kai said, scratching the back of his neck embarrassedly. "See you."

"Bye, man," Casey said. He ruffled Kai's long, dual colored hair and walked up to the front door of the apartment complex. Kai stood there for a moment before turning back and heading to the car. Instead of sitting in the back seat, he opened the front passenger seat door. He slid in with a muffled groan of pain. He didn't think getting stabbed would hurt for this long.

Karai didn't pull away from the curb immediately. She sat in silence with her little brother, watching his facial expressions and the thoughts behind his dark eyes. The two didn't look anywhere close to being siblings. Karai was full Japanese, born and raised there. Kai, on the other hand, was raised in New York and half-Japanese, half-Mexican. His mother was born in Mexico and traveled to New York where she met Oroku Saki and had Kai.

The only thing that was even remarkably similar between the two was their hair and eyes. Their eyes were the same color, even having been from different families. Their hair was black, each with the underside bleached and dyed white. It was an idea that they had one late night phone call when they were too tired to think straight. The decision was purely impulsive, but it stuck with them through the years and they hadn't changed their hair since.

"You like him, don't you?" Karai guessed.

Kai's head snapped in her direction, his large brown eyes widening further. "What?"

Karai looked at her brother. "You and Jones," she said as if it was obvious. "You like him."

Kai sat in the chair with a dumbfounded expression. "How- how did you know?"

Karai held back a laugh. It was very obvious that Kai liked Casey, well, to everyone but Kai. The way they looked at each other when they didn't think that anyone was looking at them, the way they were always touching each other somehow-- whether by holding hands or even just touching shoulders. Karai thought that it was really cute watching the two of them. Although she only knew Casey Jones for just a few hours, she knew that he was going to be perfect for Kai. However, she would have to do a little bit more digging on the hockey player to make sure that her instincts were correct.
