(have you ever had grape bubble gum and coke? it is horribly delicious. I would 9.5/10 recommend)

In the morning, Casey woke up to the sound of his dad banging pot lids together above his head.

"Wake up, Casey,!" Mr. Jones said. "It's time for school."

Casey groaned and flipped around in his bed and hugged his pillow to his ears. He wasn't that deep of a sleeper that his dad had to bang pot lids together. He was probably waking up the neighbors too at this rate.

"Fine," Casey groaned. "I'm up, I'm up."

"Good," Mr. Jones said, promptly putting the pot lids away. "Marie also left your friends a gift on the kitchen counter. I already brought her to daycare. I am going to work now, are you okay walking to school?"

Casey nodded, not completely understanding what his dad was saying as he had just woken up. He slid out of his bed and walked over to his closet, closing the door after his dad. Why do parents always leave the door open?

Casey put on his regular multitude of shirts and gray jeans, not bothering to brush his hair, but rather just tying it back with a bandana. After putting on deodorant and his signature cologne, he headed to the kitchen for breakfast. His dad had already left for work, leaving money on the counter as well as a note.

I have to stay at work very late tonight.

Marie is having a sleepover with one of her friends.

Money is for takeout.

You know the rules.

Never in Casey's entire life did he feel so loved.

Casey was excited to have the apartment to himself that night. He might be able to watch some movies without worrying about the turtles coming and interrupting him. He grabbed a piece of toast, Marie's present for Kai, and his backpack, rushing out the door and down the street to school. The streets were already busy and it was only seven in the morning. He had to push past people who were lazily walking with their coffees steaming in the cool weather.

He arrived at school and walked into his first period class seconds before the bell rang. He sat in his usual seat, although it wasn't assigned to him, and waited for Kai to walk through the door. Kai was one of those kids who was always late but made such high marks in class that the teachers didn't even care. Almost right on cue, Kai walked through the door and apologized to the teacher for being late. She dismissed him and Kai went to sit down next to Casey in the back row of the classroom.

Casey shared a slight smile with Kai as the lesson began and the teacher droned on about the previous night's homework. He wasn't sure why, but the day was just so much better when his friend was around. Friend... he didn't like that that was the word used to describe Kai.

"Mr. Jones, can you answer question number seven?" the teacher asked.

Casey hastily opened his notebook and looked down at his empty homework sheet. He looked up at the teacher and very proudly said the incorrect answer.

Casey was sitting with Kai at lunch later that day. Casey was talking about his hockey matches and Kai was sitting there, just listening. Kai liked listening. It helped him learn things about his enemy. Enemy... he didn't like that that was the word used to describe Casey.

He didn't want Casey to be his enemy, but he was still under Shredder's control. Shredder would not stand for knowing that his son was getting soft, no longer the trained killer like before he had met the turtles and Casey.
