TW: grief, death mentions, horrible writing enjoy!

It had been two months since Kai's death and Casey was not taking it well. The turtles had brought the shorter boy back to the lair for Master Splinter. If anyone could do anything, it was their father.

A few years ago, Splinter had shown Leonardo a special healing technique called the Healing Hands. Leo thought that maybe Splinter might be able to do it to Kai, even if it was only to bring a little bit of hope back to Casey. Maybe, even if it didn't work, Casey would feel better.

As said before, Casey was not taking his lover's death well. For the first two weeks, Casey wouldn't even go home or to school. He didn't take a shower and barely ate anything. He just sat in the lair, waiting for something to happen. He was gaunt, with dark circles under his eyes and stains from where tears had dried. The others began to worry seriously about their friend's health. After the first two weeks of moping around, Splinter sent Casey home with April and made him go back to school. Casey tried to come back every day to see Kai, but he wasn't allowed back into the lair.

Back at his apartment, Casey's father and sister had no idea what had happened. Casey couldn't tell them anything about Kai because then he would have to admit that he was gay. He wasn't sure how his father would react to that and he was... he was scared. Marie knew all about Kai. She constantly asked when he would be coming over, but Casey never answered. Kai would never be able to meet his family. He would never be able to meet Marie. She didn't even know who he was and she already loved Kai like he was a part of the family.

Of course, Casey got very mad at everyone for doing this to him. They tried to tell him that it was for his own good-- he was spiraling every minute that he was by Kai's side. Eventually, Casey understood and stopped showing up. It was very quiet without Casey.

Casey started going back to school a month after Kai's death. April hung out with him a lot more as his emotional support. The first few weeks were hard. The empty desk next to Casey in each of his classes was a constant reminder that Kai was truly gone. But what made Casey really angry was the fact that none of the teachers or the other students even realized that someone was missing-- someone was dead. And none of them even seemed to care!

It was a month after Kai's death. Casey didn't show his sadness as often anymore, only occasionally crying at night as he flipped through the pictures of them on his phone. But that wasn't all that often. April and the turtles sometimes came and visited him after his father and little sister fell asleep. Most of the visits ended in an empty silence that nobody knew how to fill. Casey lay on his bed, curled into a fetal position, wearing the hoodie that Kai had left at his house that one night. Tears brimmed at his eyes, but none fell out. He sniffled, looking at the pictures of Kai and Casey when they were laying on the ice after breaking into the skating rink. He held his phone in his right hand and clutched Kai's pink and black bracelet tightly in his left. Donnie had given him the bracelet after admitting Kai into the dojo for the healing. Casey hadn't parted ways with the bracelet since.

"Casey?" a voice sounded from behind the closed bedroom door. "You awake?"

"Mhm," Casey mumbled. His father was always checking up on him, but typically didn't go farther than an 'Are you okay?' or 'Are you awake?'.

"Okay," Mr. Jones said, unsure. "Well, you have someone who wants to see you. She says she is from your math class?"

"April isn't in my math class," Casey said. "Stop tryin' ta make me come out."

"This isn't April," Mr. Jones said. "She said her name is Karai."

"I'll be right out!"
