Lorentz and Clarisse had arrived at their destination and were heading towards the prince's room. They passed Makissi's room. The door was open and Lorentz saw his sister in Garuk's arms. She had fallen asleep. He understood that she really liked his friend and that she felt safe with him. After all, it's the most important thing, to know that we have someone by our side, someone who cares about us and above all, someone we can count on. Apart from their small family, Demek's children had no support. The crown has abandoned and rejected them. Seeing his sister's head against the young man's chest, he was relieved to the point of letting out a smile. " THANKS." he said to Garuk.Lorentz joins Clarisse in his room. She was observing the instruments that were on his dresser. Particularly his flute.
- I didn't know you played instruments.
- Oh, it's not much between the boredom of the royal courts and the routine, I had enough free time to learn to play.
- I see in your eyes that something else is bothering you apart from the death of your mother.
- It's scary how you can read me.
- What is it ?
- Yesterday, the great sage made me a proposition. A large sum of money was set aside to build a statue to honor my father. Paul would like me to take the money.
- And ?
- I didn't think it was right, so I went home to ask my mother for advice when...
- I see
- What do you think I should do?
- Take the money.
- You are direct.
- It's the right choice. Your parents wouldn't want you to be unhappy because of a statue. All they care about is that you are happy.
- I still think I shouldn't do it.
- After all, the decision is yours. At least you know my opinion.
In the room in the middle of the corridor, Makissi had woken up, surprised to see that Garuk was still there.
- Have you stayed all this time?
- You didn't sleep very long either.
- Don't you have anything to do today?
- Technically no, since I resigned.
- You have what !? It's not because of me I hope.
- Um... don't worry about it.
- You shouldn't have gone to all this trouble, we would have seen each other at the academy in a few days anyway.
- I had to see you immediately.
- But how did you know about the tragedy?
- Morak informed me of this.
It was getting late and Garuk decided to go home. He said goodbye to Lorentz and Clarisse then boarded the carriage with Makissi who accompanied him.
He told her about the evening he had spent with the king in his room. At the same time, he invited Makissi to join them at the horse race which would take place soon. The journey seemed short as Garuk talked so much. As they came down, Makissi thanked Garuk and gave him a kiss on the cheek. He was so happy! It looked like the happiest day of his life. He entered the house while Mary and Melva were talking. They appeared to be in the middle of an argument.
Garuk wasn't going to risk asking what was happening again. He decided to quietly walk towards his room and listen to what they were saying from the hallway.
- You're joking there I hope.
- I'm sorry, we should have waited a little longer.
- You forced me to go see Jerel. All that for this ? No I won't go. Are you sure this letter is from him? When is it from?
- It arrived today. This idiot forgot to warn me that he was going to see his mother in Dizek.
- Melva! Do you realize what you're making me do? What will I look like?
- Please.
Mary, annoyed, took the letter and went into her room. Garuk was going to drink water in the kitchen when he heard Melva crying. He asked her what was wrong with her. She certainly didn't want to bother him with Raoul's housekeeping and Tom's death, so she faked a smile and retired to her room.
Paul had arrived and wanted to speak with Lorentz alone for a moment. Clarisse went out and saw Makissi who had just arrived. She decided to get to know him. She greeted the princess and apologized for bothering her at this painful time. Makissi reassured her and wanted to talk with her to clear her mind. Clarisse introduced herself by explaining both her profession and her ambitions. The princess was captivated. She saw in Clarisse the woman she always wanted to be. A woman free in her actions as in her thoughts. Her emancipation had no limits. Makissi was a fan of the apothecary right away. She wanted Clarisse to tell her more.
Meanwhile, Paul and Lorentz were chatting not far from the young ladies.
- They give us land as a pity. For them, we don't deserve to be noble. They do this to have a clear conscience.
- Don't see life in black or white. Especially since you're hesitant about your father's money, you could at least accept their offer. You will find a living environment close to what you have always known. And to be honest, knowing you are under Savel's cover bothers me.
- Humm... And when does he want the answer?
- For tomorrow.
- Firoza County. I would somehow have to answer to his father if I see correctly.
- We all have someone to answer to.
- Sorry but I can't go back to this hypocritical deceit that is the nobility; I would still rather die being cursed by all the gods at once than be under their thumb.
- Think about it carefully.
- I've already thought about it and my decision is made. I will make it clear to them tomorrow that they can put their offer wherever I think.
