Lorentz had heard the news from Lidas, his most faithful servant. Even though he already suspected that his life was about to turn upside down, he surely underestimated the degree to which his situation would be turned upside down. He now felt vulnerable. While he was thinking in his head about what might happen next, he saw a horde of servants heading towards his room. He found that his room was being emptied and moved to new quarters. The visitors barely answered him. "But who gave this order?" he shouted. Her servant replied that it was Princess Bali now "Queen Mother". Indeed, the fact that someone else apart from his companion or mistresses sleeps in the King's room is forbidden by tradition. Only the active King may authorize any person to reside in the palace. Lidas informed him that even the room where he was installed was temporary and that the king could decide to empty him. Lorentz wondered about his mother.
Lorentz was aware of his situation but complained even more about his mother's. He rushes to his mother's quarters, hoping at least that she will be treated by showing her the consideration of the "Dowager Queen". His mother's room was at the end of the hallway. Once he was there, everything was empty and tidy. There were only a few suitcases left ready to be moved. He automatically understood where she was. So, he walked towards the golden quarters, they were even more beautiful than what people described. The lights twinkling everywhere, the windows in the shape of a circle, the golden curtains adorned with glitter. But while Lorentz walked the gold nylon carpet, the last of his worries was contemplating the room. He just wanted to run into his mother and see how she handled the situation. He entered his late father's room and saw his mother kneeling with her head on the bed. She was in tears. Her situation is even more serious than that of her son and daughter Makissi. Indeed, she does not come from any noble family. Although the king was reluctant to marry her to legitimize his children, the noble class and some citizens of Sifane never accepted this union. The only true queen they had accepted was the king's first wife with whom he had two sons. But Makissi, Lorentz's sister, was preparing for her marriage to Savel's eldest son.
Savel was certainly rich but not noble. For many years, Savel has tried time and time again to be in the royal graces in order to finally be knighted and elevated to the title of noble. Although he had a lot of money, he had no royal blood in his entire lineage. He had joined the Council of 11 following the death of a former member. And in recognition of the fact that he helped the crown out of financial problems several times, it was his candidacy that was retained by the council. The best of his contributions was to have funded to help stop the "red cloud". He came from a family of port merchants, and he was able to rise to where he is today. He is very cunning and places his pawns at least three moves in advance. As for his appearance, he was rather of medium height and displayed a smile very often smirk. He made his friends out of high places and did not have enough esteem for the rest. He had several people at his boot and knew how to maneuver to get what he wanted. He had a wife and three children: a girl and two boys.
In the estate of Savel, miles from the palace, Savel was back home and had asked Raoul, his henchman, to bring his son to talk with him in his office. Hughes immediately hastened to join his father. Makissi, 13, sitting in the garden, had heard of Savel's return and had no idea how things would turn out. She already expected that the king's death would affect her marriage somewhat. She suspected that this subject would be discussed during the meeting between her husband and her father-in-law. Hughes opened the door, then closed it behind him. He saw his father sitting in the office looking out the window Makissi sitting with his maids by the fountain in the garden. As it was said in the suburbs of Sifane, the Savel estate was breathtakingly beautiful. The furniture and tools used in his house were of the same standing as those of the royal palace. After rubbing his hands, Savel turned around in front of his table, greeted his son and began the discussion:
- Hi, my son, you are fine, I hope.
- Yes, Dad and you? I am sorry for what happened to the king. I know you held him in high regard.
- Yes, the news is sad, and the solution chosen was all the more difficult.
- Yes, Makissi is very devastated by the death of her father and knows that the idea of disinheriting her brother comes from you. Are you sure it's not going to be a problem?
- About that... Son, I have good news for you. You don't have to marry her anymore...
- Thanks, Dad!! It's great, fabulous! I can't wait to tell mom. She will be too happy! Thank you, dad you are the best! Finally, I am rid of this "half-blood."
Hughes was very jealous of Lorentz. He was 17 years old, and his cruelty seemed older than him. He didn't want Makissi as a wife because he felt that she would not bring him anything good even if his father thought otherwise years earlier. Phillipe, Savel's second son, wanted to be very much like his father and idolized his older brother. He also had a fierce hatred for Makissi and his family. On the few occasions he had to play with Morak and his friends, he behaved despicably towards those who were not rich or noble. Following his discussion with his father, Hughes broke the news to his mother, who as soon as possible, began to arrange to send Makissi back to the palace, but Savel asked him to change his mind because he had other plans for the "half-bloods".
Savel had one of his houses that was far from the Palace. He had arranged for her to house Lorentz and his family. They were all to be moved there after Demek's funeral the next day.
For his part, Morak had arrived home. What his father wanted to tell him; he had learned in the public square. For someone who would soon become King, his face was not very expressive. To tell the truth, he had never thought about it and did not want to be king in this way. One of these friends blamed his family for his father's death. And that really affected Morak. So, he wondered if it was worth it, did he deserve to be king? And even if it is, would it be this way? He had a solution to solve his problems. He knocked on his parents' door and his father opened it to him... "Ahhh! My beloved son! I have some damn good news to tell you. You can't believe it... He cut her off with these words: "I don't want to be king, at least not like this! »
