The next day, it was with a heavy heart that Mary came to announce the news to Michel. She headed towards her worktable when she noticed his absence. One of his colleagues informed him that it was Michel's day off. Mary then postponed her apologies until later. Meanwhile, Michel was preparing for his part. He had dedicated not only his evening to Mary but also his day. He had taken care to sew an outfit made from the silk that he had taken from some of the noble outfits that he had sewn. He wanted this dinner to go perfectly. A little later in the morning, he went to the stable to reserve a private carriage to take them home after the date. He also stopped by the manager of the tavern in Garchik to make sure everything would go well. He wanted Mary to be comfortable and that all these amenities would help relieve a lot of the stress she had been experiencing for a moon now. He had planned everything. From Mary's arrival to her return home, everything was planned. There shouldn't have been any problems that evening.
That same day, Lorentz went to "Burst" in the northwest of the city. This part of Sifane was renowned for its isolation. During his journey, Lorentz was able to attest to the difficulty in reaching these places. The path strewn with pitfalls and quack grass was enough to reduce the drivers' desire to go there. As a result, only a single common carriage traveled between Burst and "Ditch" every six hours between 6 a.m. and 6 p.m. Lorentz could get there more easily in his horse-drawn carriage, but he wanted to experience the ride in person. He had ideas for starting his own business and wanted his vision of the context to be as reliable as possible. Once in Burst, he went to meet a Sifaneese who was selling his farm. The latter had just inherited the farm from his late father and did not want to continue this work as a beast of burden. Maintaining a business in this area was very complicated so he was looking for a buyer. He met the prince in the arena during the events who told him of his intention of redemption.
At the Bika house, Melva was trying to calm Kamal who was crying loudly. She managed to silence him a few minutes later. While she was getting ready to do the dishes, she heard the sound of a carriage pulling up in front of the door. Not long after, there was a knock on the door. The many noises woke Kamal up again and he started crying. She hesitated for a few seconds before finally opening the door. She was the most surprised. She systematically curtsied and greeted the Archduke of Gayle. Paul greeted her back and sat down in the living room. He asks his guards and his messenger to wait for him at the door.
- Is that you Mary Dobel? My sincere condolences. Our records say your husband accompanied the king. So, I would like to know who Tom is, the Queen's ex-chauffeur for you?
- I am Melva. Mary is my sister, and she went to work.
- Sorry for the confusion. But did you know Tom?
- Yes, he was a friend, but he is in Dizek now.
- Will he come back ?
Melva lowered her head then wiped away her tears as she tried to answer. "It's up to him. » retorted the young woman. Paul sensed that Melva was more involved than she let on. His attitude confirmed his doubts. He didn't understand why a recently widowed woman would prioritize finding a driver she wasn't related to. Paul understood everything immediately. He also knew that Melva knew more about the driver's disappearance than she let on. He asked her to come to his office if she had any news then left.
Garuk, who had just finished work, was putting his things away. The workshop was quiet and the sunset announced closing time. He realized he didn't know enough about Rad. He decides to remedy this. He started a conversation but Rad wasn't talkative enough, especially about his family and his past. The only information he let slip was that he had a daughter. Garuk, who did not want to prolong the discussion, returned home.
Mary came home after a busy day at work. She was nonetheless brimming with energy at the thought of being at her evening appointment. She decided to put on the sublime dress that Sandrine had bought her. While she was getting ready, she saw a bracelet that Michel had given her. " Damn ! » It had completely slipped her mind. She still had to let Michel know that the meeting was canceled. But it was too late to inform him in person. Mary was finally ready. She sent Garuk to the nearest porter's house to send a message. She then took the path to the nearest stable and then rented a private carriage.
As night had just fallen on Sifane, Bali had decided to pay a nocturnal visit to Raoul. She dispatched her new driver in secret and asked him to drop her off at the usual address.
