Day had dawned on the royal paths while Savel and his eldest son Hughes continued to sleep in their carriage. Savel had taken leave to go to Tresoria and had taken his son with him so that the latter could get involved in the family project of joining the nobility. But the order his father had just given to the driver had intrigued Hughes to the point of sparking a discussion between him and Savel.
- Father, I thought we were going to Tresoria.
- It's the case.
- So if my memories are good, and my history lessons too, we must stay on the road heading east.
- We're taking a detour, that's all.
- A detour to the west!??? What for.
- Anyway, I took you so that you could see the scope of my project and learn.
- Learn what ? What are you talking about ?
- It was never a question of going to Tresoria, we are going to Povidas.
- What are we going to do in Povidas?
- Rewrite history my child.
In Sifane, Garuk got up and went to the carpentry workshop. His boss, whom he called "Rad" which means "Mr. Radin," was already on the scene. Rad had already prepared Garuk's task on one of the tables. Garuk entered the workshop and saw his boss. Before he had time to greet him, Rad had already pointed his finger towards Garuk's work table to tell him his task for the day. Garuk grumbled but got to work immediately.
Meanwhile, the young man who had spied on Melva during her search at Tom's house had just seen around ten soldiers enter the driver's apartment. So many soldiers for one driver ? It didn't sound good to his crew. He decided immediately to go and warn his lover who works for the great sage. It seemed so serious to him that he went to the stable immediately to reserve a shared carriage heading east, more precisely towards the county of "Gayle", lands ruled by Archduke Paul. All the places for the next carriage were already taken. He decided to bargain for the passengers' seats. He offered 5 krika to the person who gave him his place, or 3 krika more than the initial price. None of the passengers seemed to be excited when they heard: "I would get down for 10 krika". The young man first wrinkled his face, hesitated for a few seconds, then took out 5 more krika from his purse. He handed over the entire amount to the old man and took his place. This sequence served as a lesson to him and he decided to buy a horse in the future.
After spending a good thirty minutes aboard the carriage, Paul's messenger lover had arrived at his destination. He saw that a royal carriage was already parked at the entrance. He went to the servants' quarters and asked to see Paul's messenger. A few minutes later, he was finally face to face with his lover. The latter was irritated at the idea of seeing him at his workplace but he still had to listen to what he had to say. This could be important. Indeed, after hearing the young man's information, the messenger had his face closed for a short moment. He had to warn Raoul as quickly as possible. He decided to go to Raoul's house immediately while Paul was busy with his friend Caesar who had just arrived. He took advantage of the situation, took a horse and left.
Caesar had heard of the army's searches at Tom's house and came to talk about it with the great sage. It was installed in Paul's private living room. The royal blue painted walls embellished the room as well as the portraits of all the Frosts who ruled the "Gayle" territories. He was observing the portraits when he heard the door handle turned. Paul had not yet completely crossed the threshold of the door when Caesar had already begun to call him to account.
- I thought we needed to be more discreet, you were supposed to suspend the case when I left here last time.
- Believe me, I did it but I think we're going to have to hurry apparently.
- What ? For what ?
- General Jerel came in person to ask me to reopen the investigation so that the army could seriously look into the matter. Refusing his request would have seemed suspicious on my part.
- But why would the army look for him?
- Apparently we're not the only ones looking for it. The wanted notice was issued by a certain Mary Bika, surely a member of his family.
- Should we go see her?
- Not now. We will have to accelerate on our side while remaining discreet. I will be on the lookout for the army's findings, as for you, watch over your wife to see if you can provide us with anything useful.
- So I found a new meeting place for us. We shouldn't be seen at my house often enough, it will arouse suspicion.
- And where is it ?
- In one of Ervin's establishments, the Duke of Lidsor. I plan to rally him to our cause in the long run.
- Are you sure this is a good idea?
- Yes, we need powerful allies if the Queen and her companions are behind this.
Caesar had left and Paul was preparing to receive Lorentz. The young prince had informed him of his visit via a messenger. Indeed, during their dinner the previous night, Clarisse had asked Lorentz to heal his wounds from the past in order to make a new start.
Paul's messenger had tied his horse in front of Raoul's door. He heard noises inside but no one came to open the door. He decided to knock even harder and several times. Raoul ended up opening the door. "What else? » he said.
- I can enter ?
- No ! Not today.
- I think your sex party is going to have to wait.
- I tell you that you can speak. Speak now or come-back later.
Raoul wanted to slam the door in his face when the messenger put his foot in the gap to prevent him.
- Good ! All right. The army has surely opened an investigation into the driver, you know you murdered not long ago. (he said with a sarcastic tone to show him the urgency of the situation)
- Shit! It was probably her who reported his disappearance.
- What are we doing ?
- You can go, I'll take care of her and all that.
- "Take care of her"? Your way of handling things has caused us problems so far. I think we have to wait for Savel.
- You have no orders to give me and Savel won't come back for at least 3 weeks, so we have to act in his absence. Damn! Go ahead now and keep listening.
Raoul had reached Bali and wanted to continue where he left off but she interrupted him. She had heard everything and demanded accountability from Raoul who told her that he had taken care of Tom and that she had nothing to fear. She wanted to help but Raoul dissuaded her. There was no need to go back to Savel and him via her. This would annoy Savel and ruin all their plans. He went back to bed and resumed his business with the Queen Regent.
Paul's messenger had pretended to leave and hid a few streets away to spy on the entrance to Savel's house. He was rewarded by seeing the Queen Regent's carriage park in front of Raoul's house. She left the house and got into a carriage. The messenger was amazed by what he had just seen. He decided to keep that to himself for now.
