{Dally's POV}

We stepped out of Buck's truck at the same time, walking up the battered pavement to the Dairy Queen, two blocks away. If you can believe it, this is a nice restaurant to a greaser. This is how it was nowadays, me, Pony, and Johnny. Actually I was really around for Johnny, who was basically my brother. Pony wasn't a bad kid to be around though.

I owed him a lot too, when he saved me from those police after we thought Johnny had died. But, uh... i don't like to think about it too often. I know Pony had been through a lot, something that could really fuck a kid up, but he was still sweet Ponyboy after it all. My face got warm as I thought of him, making me swat my face in confusion.

"Y'alright, Dal?" I heard a voice from below my head ask.

"Yeah, I'm good Pone." I said with a smirk. "something with my face, i don't know..." trailing off my sentence awkwardly. I put my hands in my back pockets, they were getting clammy.

"Ok Dal!" Pony said obliviously.

"Are ya keeping up, Johnny?" he said playfully looking behind us.

"Yeah, i'm coming." Johnny said plainly, his hands in his jacket pockets.

I almost forgot why we were here. Pony's friend Curly was gonna be here to see Ponyboy, and he dragged Johnny and I along. I didn't like Curly, he wasn't a great influence for Pony. I know thats grand coming from Dallas Winston, but Curly and Tim Shepard were more hoods than greasers, even if they were in our circles.

Ponyboy liked Curly though. A lot. It wasn't odd to hear them flirting or something in the house. I think Darry felt the same as me about Curly, but Pony was still fragile so Dar didn't say anything. Anything that kept him happy right now. I also knew it kinda tore Johnny up. Pony still spent more time with Johnny, but I could tell it still got to him.

As we walk in silence, Pony starts picking up his pace and ran into someone's arms. It was Curly.

"Hey Poner..." He said, pulling Pony closer by the belt loops on the back of his jeans. He had that stupid smirk on his face, that was mischievous, humorous, and a little dumb. He really was Tim's brother.

"Poner? Where'd that come from?" Pony said giggling, not breaking from the close embrace.

"Oh just something you gave me one one time." he said, passing over his words quickly.

"huh..?"

"Nothing, what'd you hear?" he said, not breaking his smirk. He was holding Pony close like some broad. They chuckled together.

"Who'd ya bring?" He said. Asshole. He knew us.

"Just Johnnyboy and Dally. I think you'll like 'em." he said with sarcasm.

"Well come on boys, i got us a table." Spinning Pony around in the direction of the restaurant, they turned our backs to us.

"Come on Johnny, you gotta be hungry." I said, starting to walk a little faster. His dull expression lightened when i talked to him.

"Ok Dal."

He met my pace, and we strolled into the place nonchalantly. There were a lot of people. Typical friday night. I saw Pony and Curly in the round corner booth, so me and Johnny slid in next to them.

"What're y'all getting?" Pony said, putting his elbows on the table.

"Definitely a Pepsi. I'm thirsty as hell!" Curly said loudly.
