{Pony's POV}

I hear the front door open, and I'm awake again. My eyes shoot open and I stare at the lamp on the table. Then I glance at the clock. Its only been twenty minutes?

That was a lousy nap. I knew I wouldn't be able to fall back asleep for a little so I went to get a drink in the kitchen. I saw Darry already asleep in his chair, and Soda making his way to the bedroom. We pass in the hall but I didn't bother him, he looked like he might fall asleep standing up.

"night, little brother."

"night, pepsi cola."

I went to the fridge and pulled open the door, grabbing a root beer. I decide to drink it plain, with no ice or anything. I go to this living room and get the blanket out of the basket by the couch. I sit down and turn on the TV, making sure it's on a low volume. Dar still sits on the recliner, but I know he'll be out for a while.

Its some rerun of the show I saw on this morning. The main guys friend was kinda cute. He looked like Dally a little... there I go again. I've tried to get over him because I know he's probably straight and especially won't want to date me of all people.

The episode ends and some commercials come on, so I decide to go to bed. I take off the blanket and get up to go to the kitchen. Darry gets mad when I leave pop cans in the living room.

Just as I'm about to get up, I hear a *click*

"Dally...?" I whisper at the crack in the door. I see his eye and hair peeking through and I recognize him immediately.

"Pony-" I raise my finger to my mouth with wide eyes looking at Darry in the recliner.

He giggles looking at him, he is funny when he falls asleep with his mouth open.

"ponyboy-" he whispers. "will you come with me for a second. I wanna talk about something."

Then I thought about it. Oh shit. Steve must've told him about my notebook, he must be really mad at me...

"Pony...? Pony?" I hear him questioning as he opens the door wider and comes closer.

I'm still frozen when he puts his hand on my shoulder, pulling me back into focus. He was in the middle of the living room with me.

"Pony, please talk to me, I really want to talk now." he pleads. He looked at me longingly. I couldn't say no to his beautiful, glassy eyes.

"o-okay, dal." My lip quivers. I'd rather never find out he could never love me than have to see him say it to my face.

He turns around, pulling my hand to go outside. I take one last glance at Darry asleep in the recliner, before gently closing the door with my free hand. His hands were rough against my soft palms.

"dal... where are we walking...?" I look up and down the sidewalks, we're still in front of my house. He sits on the porch steps, and pats the step, motioning for me to sit next to him.

I approach cautiously, and sit down. I rest my hands on my knees and look at the ground.

"so, um... I don't really know how to start.."

"you don't have to..." I cry. The tears fall from my face on the steps.

"oh Pony... I didn't mean to make you cry... Steve told me."

"I know he did, and I'm gonna kill him. You were never supposed to find out. Never. I'm sorry and I get it if you don't feel like seeing me again." I start to get up, but he holds my arm gently to keep me there.

"what-? Ponyboy, that's not it at all." He says teary eyed.

"huh?" My southern accent slips out.

"Ponyboy, I've.... I've loved you, for so, so long. I was never brave enough to tell you, but it's true. I want you so bad, I love you and everything about you."
