{Pony's POV}

Dallas lays me down on the bed, and before I can thank him for being so sweet while I'm sick, I fall asleep. This sickness is kicking my ass. The minute I wake up or the minute it's time for bed, I get horrible waves of nausea. I think it's a stomach bug or something, but I'm not sure. I heard from Johnny on the phone that Bryon had something similar last week, but he's all good now. I hadn't told Dally about it yet, because I don't want to worry him. I don't want him getting sick, but it's gonna be hard to sleep with nobody. Soda has officially moved back into his old room. He still sleeps with me if Dally doesn't stay the night.

My sleep is uneventful, and only lasts another hour and a half. I wake up leaning on someone's bare chest, with arms protectively draped over my stomach.

He notices me stir my head, and leans his face to my neck.

"Morning, doll." I feel warm and fuzzy inside when I hear my beloved nickname.

"Good morning, love." I coo as I face him. I must look like death, I don't feel too hot. Not sick, just uncomfortable.

"Pony, I'm gettin' worried for you. We're gonna go see the doctor today, okay? I'm worried that-" He pauses. "I'm worried that y-you might be pregnant."

"What?"

"Pony, it looks like you're having morning sickness. If it isn't that, we'll get you checked for whatever else it might be, ok babe?"

"Oh Dal... I really don't think I am... but if it clears your mind i'll go."

"Thank you Pone. But I just want you to be ok, this is really scaring me."

He rests his head on mine, rubbing my arms gently. I nuzzle my back on his chest, and we lay together, just enjoying each others company. He brushes through my hair with his fingers, and I play with the hairs on his strong, buff arms. We stay like this for a while, before both agreeing to get up and see the doctor early.

I sit in the silent room with Dally at my side. Across the room there is a small desk thing, with a bed on the other side. We wait for the tests to finish, Dally rubbing my back trying to ease my nerves.

I feel him shudder in his jacket. I know something is up immediately.

"What is it, Dal?"

"I-If  you are pregnant- I-I don't know what to do, Pony-" Dally says in a shaky voice.

"What do you mean, Dal?" I hold his arm in my hands and beg for an answer. He looks so distressed and sad. It hurts me to see my strong boy like that.

"I don't know i-if I can be a dad... I'm so scared of being like my father. I couldn't do that to you or our kid-"

"Dallas. You're nothing like your dad, at all. You're a kind, compassionate, loving, beautiful person, the one person I could even think to have a kid with." I give a smile at my last sentence, looking into his eyes to get him to see what I see. He would be an amazing father. I've seen how nurturing and loving he is.

"They said my dad was like that, too. Before I came around...-"

The door swings open, and our doctor walks into the room with a manila folder in his hands.

"Let's see here... 'Ponyboy Curtis'? He says in a questioning voice.

"That's me." I hold up my palm.

"I'm Dr. Heath. And you must be..." He looks at Dally.

"This is Dallas, my fiancé."

"Oh- well, luck to you both. Do you want the good news or bad news first?" He says, leaning down for the stool in front of the desk.

"Bad." Dally blurts out.

"Well, 'Ponyboy' here has a stomach bug. Now we've seen it a few times in the past month, with the seasons changing and all. I'm gonna admit, it's fairly serious. I'm prescribing you some pretty severe antibiotics. They will give you slight abdominal pain, as well as drowsiness."

Dallas looks at me with a sad look. This means he probably won't see much of me until it clears up.

"Now the good news- you two aren't pregnant." He chuckles and scans over the opened manila folder again.

"W-wait. Isn't the pregnancy usually a good thing?"

"Excuse me?" He looks up from the papers.

"Shouldn't that have been the bad news?" I ask him again.

"Well- two male parents isn't a good environment for a growing child to be around. You might influence them."

"What the fuck is wrong with you? The fuck do you mean influence them?" Dally says angrily. He pushes his hand into mine and I hold on tight.

"You aren't fit parents. End of story." He sternly replies. I can hear Dallas breathing heavy, his anger overtaking him when the doctor insults us.

He stands up, still holding my hand. His eyes are darting around, and I know he wants more than anything to smack the shit out of Dr. Heath.

"Dallas- please. Can we go?" I pull his hand down and use my free arm to grab his.

His breathing regulates when I squeeze him, and he looks down to the floor.

"yeah, yeah. Let's go pick up your medication."

He leads me out to the hallway of the clinic, passing the doctor with a menacing glare.

"That fucker shouldn't ever talk to anyone like that again. I'm just happy you're gonna get better." He says with his arm over my shoulder. I lean into his touch and walk with him out to the car.

"Yeah. I'm just not ready to sleep on my own." I try to giggle. I just want to get over the doctor's visit situation.

"I know, babe. I'll be right in the living room, okay? I promise I'll stay until you wake up, I have to go to work, though."

I frown but nod my head understandingly. I'm not ready to be alone at night.

"Woah, watch out biohazard." Steve raises his arms and backs away as I walk into the house with Dal at my side.

"Not the time, Steve." Dallas glares. I hold my stomach and walk to the kitchen to take my first pill. Dallas walks over and puts a hand on my back.

"Ponybaby, you probably need to lay down."

"All right." I groan. Not because I didn't want to lay down, but because my stomach was doing backflips, and the only thing that could make it go away was a nap.

He holds my shoulder, and then dips quickly to scoop me off my feet.

"Dallyyyy..." I whine. All the guys are gonna baby me now.

"What? My princess deserves to be treated like one." He gives me a big smile, and it almost makes me forget the pain in my gut to giggle at him.

"Oh hush, prince charming."

"You guys are sick." Two Bit laughs from the couch. Steve nods his head in agreement.

"When I get back down here, It's on. Better run." Their eyes go wide, and they run out the door to escape Dallas.

"You're so menacing. A big menacing teddy bear."

"Hush it, horseman."
