11:49 P.M. | Random Street
In the year 2035. In a simple town known as Hurricane, Utah. It was currently nighttime as the town was lit up by its street lights as well as some other buildings and houses and also a few lamp posts that lit up the sidewalk of Hurricane.
Meanwhile a lone child was casually walking through the sidewalk while a few other people that occasionally passed him, but did not care if the boy was alone or even stopped to ask why he was alone. The child didn't have any interesting features, but what made him stand out among other children was that the boy was rather short for his age and had an abnormally thin body; almost as if he hadn't eaten anything at all, or ever.
He had messy brown hair that reached to the back of his neck, as well as hazel colored eyes and somewhat pale skin with a few bruises that were visible on both his arms and on his legs.
The clothing he wore was a dirty long white t-shirt along with navy colored knee length shorts and also dirty old looking green sneakers, with duct tape holding what's left of them, and the thing that stood out from his face was a scar on his right cheek.
The child had just recently walked out of a convenience store, as the worker there told him to leave since he wasn't gonna buy anything, and to make matters worse the worker even went as far as to threaten to call the police if he didn't leave immediately.
The brunette boy kept walking until he turned into an alleyway that was away from the few other people that were walking on the street. As the boy walked, he then suddenly felt a drip of water fall onto his nose as it began to rain. The child quickly walked deeper into the alleyway and into his shelter which was a cardboard box big enough to fit him.
He gently sat down and reached into his pockets, and pulled out a twenty dollar bill along with a five dollar bill as well and a few other one dollar bills along with loose coins.
The boy started counting out the money he had stolen from the cash register while the worker wasn't looking before being kicked out of the store.
"Twenty-nine dollars and thirty-two cents." The little boy spoke up. "This might last me for at least a little while."
A sudden breeze of air blew by as the boy then began shivering from how cold it had gotten due to the rain. He hugged himself and put the money inside of his pillow, before reaching and covering himself with a piece of cloth that was basically a blanket for him, even though he was covered by the blanket, it was not thick enough to block out the cold air.
"My name is Gregory, just Gregory, no last name. I'm 10 years old and I'm living inside a cardboard box in an old alleyway. You might be wondering why I'm homeless... well ever since my mom had disappeared, I had nothing and no home to return to or even food for myself. I'm basically a thief... at least that's what other people think of me, but I'm nothing of the sort! I just take what I need to survive, an example of this, is that I have to pickpocket people to get money, and I have to steal clothes from donation boxes, eat leftovers from empty plates at restaurants or eat food that still looks somewhat edible from the garbage and find loose change from water fountains while also forcing myself to drink from them."
Gregory continued to shiver under his blanket from the cold breeze that just blew as he also then began to feel a little hungry, however he ignored the feeling and decided to just sleep and wait until tomorrow and see if he can use the money he has on something to eat in the morning.
The boy's eyes started to feel heavy, until he eventually started falling asleep and ignoring the raindrops hitting the top of his box and occasional cars driving in the wet streets of Hurricane as it continued pouring down.
