Neteyam woke up and looked at the time. It was 6:42am and he groaned stretching getting up. He jumped out of bed having a quick shower before getting into some clothes and walking out of his room with his hair slightly dripping.
Neteyam walked into the kitchen and began making everyone's lunches. His mother walked out fully dressed and kissed him on the cheek.
"Goeie môre my pragtige seun"
(Good morning my beautiful son)
"Morning mama"
"How is your head feeling?"
"Uh it's feeling fine mama"
"That's good. Here I will finish this up can you go wake your siblings for me?"
"Of course" He leaves the kitchen and goes to Kiris room first knocking on the door."Kiri time to get up for school!" HE heard a groan and a thud with a small curse. He chuckled and went to wake up Tuk.
"Tuk wake up before I walk in there. LO'AK YOU BETTER BE UP BY THE TIME I'M IN YOUR ROOM ASWELL" Neteyam opened Tuks door to find her grabbing clothes with a towel in hand. He backed out and went to Lo'aks room.Neteyam opened his brothers door and found him still laying in bed with a pillow over his head.
"Lo'ak come on get up we have school."
"Ughhhh"
"IF you dont get up you won't be able to get to see Tsireya" Lo'ak shot up immediately and Neteyam thought that it was like he had said that someone was going to kill his whole family.
"I'm up!"
"Good you have 20 minutes to get ready"
Neteyam walks out and goes back into the kitchen.IMMMMM GONNA SWING FROM MY CHANDELIER FROM MY CHANDELIER!!!!
After about 15 minutes Lo'ak came rushing down the hall and was putting on his shoes at the same time.
"Ok I'm all good to go!" Neteyam noticed that he was missing a shirt.
"Lo'ak.. your missing a shirt." His brother looked at himself and ran back to his room. Neteyam chuckled and grabbed his keys.He followed Kiri and Tuk out to the car and got in starting the car waiting for Lo'ak. When he finally came and got in they set off.
"How is everyone feeling about today?"
"I'm bot sure about this Tey.. I mean what if everyone thinks that we are just the weird kids from Africa"
"Tuk no one is going to think that we are weird."
"Yeah Tuk no one will think we are weird. Plus we have thr Metkyinas and the Caros."
"Lo'ak your only happy about that because of Tsireya. You don't give a rats ass about anyone else in the family's."
"I agree with Kiri, Lo I mean I'm kinda surprised you remember the last name of Rotxo and Kai" Neteyam heard his brother groan and shuffle in his seat. When Neteyam finally pulled up to the school he sighed in relief. The school didn't seem to be too large but he knew he would still have troubles trying to find his classes. Him and his siblings got out of the car and were greeted by the two family's that had just been speaking about.
"Hey guys! Excited for your first day!" Neteyam was confused on how Rotxo could be so energetic this early in the morning."Yeah so excited. Although where do we find out what classes we got?"
"Oh well since Dad is the principal he made sure that you guys were in atleast one class with one of us so we can all help you with that. Oh but he did say that you all have the same class with one of us this morning so we can tell you everything that you need to know! Neteyam and Ao are in the same class first period. Me and Lo'ak, Kiri and Rotxo and lastly Tuk and Kai!. The bell is about to ring so come we will take you to your classes."Everyone started to walk off and that left Neteyam and Ao'nung alone.
"So how's your uh head feeling?"
"Yeah it's fine, I'll be fine."
"Cool.." He thought it was strange. All this change. He wasn't sure he particularly liked it all yet. Hopefully it will get better. He was sure that it would.. right?Ao'nung was leading Neteyam to their first class of the day.
"I have your timetable in my bag. I'll give it to you when we are in class. The school is easy to find your way around I'll point everything out to you at interval. I'll take you to your second class. But first we have algebra. I hate the teacher so much. So I wish you luck man." Neteyam felt worried. What if the teacher didn't like him. He needed to make sure he was well liked by all the teachers but not too much or people will start thinking things."So do you think me and my siblings will fit in here?" Neteyam got the question out. He felt like Ao'nung would know. He had seemed rather popular around the school. Fist pumping everyone and saying 'Chur bro!' TO the all aswell. It was weird to him.
"Uh yeah I think you will. If you hang out with me and me and my siblings then your should be good man."
"Good." He felt relieved and saw Ao'nung walk into a classroom door and suddenly all that relief washed away.In the classroom Neteyam could hear people talking and laughing. He didn't know anyone in there. Not a soul. Apart from Ao'nung. Bt he didn't even know if he liked him. But he had to go in. Neteyam walked in and a hush fell over the class. He saw Ao'nung sitting at the back looking at him with a smile as if trying to reassure him. It wasn't working. Neteyam felt his hands start to shake as he walked to a empty seat next to Ao'nung in the corner of the class.
He felt all eyes on him but he just stared at his desk. He didn't like this. Not one bit. The door opened and a tall man walked in the door holding a briefcase and using a cane to help him walk. This teacher had a kind look on his face and sat the briefcase on his desk.
"Hello class!"There was a rush of bodys turning and a course of hellos and good morning back.
"I see we have a new student today. Welcome. Don't worry you don't have to announce yourself or anything. That is unless you want to then go ahead." Neteyam shook his head and the teacher just smiled.
"That alright. My name is Mr. Spellman but I prefer Norm" He still had a kind smile plastered on his face. Was he cursed or something? The class ended and everyone began packing up for the bell resuming their conversations. No one looked at him again and he was just standing there feeling out of place.
