Jace: Reeses?
Jace: I'm sorry, where are you rn?

I stared in teary eye to the phone screen while standing meters away from the house because apparently, Jace forgot that I was waiting.

I took a very deep breath and decided to slipped the phone back to my jeans then continued walking.

But halted after meeting her eyes "Reese" Jace push herself against the car she was leaning on.

".....hey"

She look behind me for a second before diverting back "you walked your way here?"

"Just...I just feel like walking. To think"

We stared to each, letting the silence filled the gap yet I can clearly see the guilt in her eyes.

She pressed her lip into thin line without breaking the eye contact before saying, "l'm not gonna lose you right?" She speaks "I know Sarah told you about London"

I bitterly smiled "London, hmm. Fancy isn't it? That's really a good opportunity Jace" I say trying to convince myself more than her "it will surely fit you. You will have a great future there"

"I will not take it"

"You sound stupid for the first time"

"I can work first and then save later for college"

"And waste the opportunity? I thought you're smart?"

"Reese. I want to stay here, with you...."

I smiled but it's because I'm sad and I know how she's struggling right now "But how about Jade? You know she needs you. She will not go if you're not with her and that means" I paused, pushing the lump in my throat "she'll die..."

And right there, she turned hesitant. Jace always does whenever it is about Jade.

Everything turned nothing when it comes to Jade, like everything becomes useless, powerless and even me becomes nothing....

"We can work it out right? You trust me right?"

I don't want to be selfish and sure I don't even want to lose Jace. Of why staring at her hurt so much, knowing that we only have a little time left before graduation.

"Can you please say something Reese?"

I walked towards her and wrapping my hand around her neck before pulling her down and kissing her with all of me.

She is indeed beautiful, and all this, is sinking just now that I'm starting to notice the little details. Of her full lip, the cute dot dimple in both corner of her mouth whenever she smiles. Of how her nose fits her face perfectly with that elongated eyes that disappear whenever she smiles.

.....and for the first time, I admit, I think I love Jace for so long.

"HEEY! I CAN SEE YOU FROM HERE!" Ross shouting from his window "NO SEX OUTSIDE YOU IDIOTS! REALLY JACE? DOING IT IN FRONT OF OUR HOUSE? SHE HAS A ROOM! WHAT'S WRONG WITH YOU? YOU'RE ALREADY IN FRONT OF THE HOUSE JUST FEW STEPS TO GO! STOP EATING MY SISTER MOUTH!"

and right now my face is definitely steaming hot in embarrassment for watching my sweet brother announcing it to our neighbors with their lights turning on and few heads are peeking from their window.

"Do you think our parent will notice if he goes missing?" Jace just laugh at it but continued our kiss and giving my brothers a middle finger.

Jace has to leave while I receive a message from Jules to go to her room and there is the four of us here right now.

"Wow. That is such a sore in the eye" Jules teasingly say "what a hot show Reeses" she added more.

But the both of us was caught off guard by Eve announcement "Steph and I are dating"

Imagine our eyeballs rolling out from the socket and bouncing in the floor in utter shock— That's what it felt.

And both of them couldn't even look at us with her cheeks reddening and looking so awkward together. "Nice, so this is me stuck in self love" Jules commented

"But August likes you, you just didn't want him" Eve speaks out.

And now my attention is all turned to Jules and judging her in narrowing eyes "what? I told you self love" she shrugged

"August our school 'boy next door' likes you?" That isn't even a question but a repetitive statement of shock "did I heard it right? You didn't like him? Are you gay too? So this is what? Three gays and Steph?" with my hand gesturing strikingly to the four of us.

"I'm not okay?" She look defensive thou.

"Yeah she's not" Eve chiming "She's just simply, stupidly, annoyingly still in love with her ex.....Gabrielle" now Jules is glaring Eve after that statement.

"Gabrielle? Someone should fill this question in my head now" I say to Eve

"Gabrielle Elroy. Is Jules ex boyfriend—is it really a boyfriend? Or he played you over a stupid bet and our gullible friend fell in love—hard. Face first" I tilted to Jules who's now looking like a dragon that's about to blow a fire to all of us that will cause us 3rd degree burns.

I clasp my palm and tell them "In Mr. Hanse diner. Now!"

Jules drove us and arrived there in hot minute. The store is closed but we are Mr. Hanse illegal adopted daughter and now enjoying our milkshakes with him.

"And you and Jace?" Jules asked, gaining everyone's attention.

I take my time indulging the sweet liquid for feeling bitterness inside "Well. We're good. She took me to her house, saw the room full of pictures of Jade and her then took me in a carnival date, experienced roller coaster before Jade mom called her because she's in the hospital. Jade mom and I talked about Jace. It turned out they're offering her a free college in exchange for going with Jade in London for her chemotherapy and I think it's a good idea" there and saw their furrowed eyebrows while looking horrified at me.

"Sounds like you just won the world most stupidest masochist girlfriend record" Eve telling everyone with them having the same agreeing reaction "question Reese. When God showers stupidity, did you take it with open arms?"

"What?" I groaned and really hating their expression "They're friends just like us!"

"And their ex's too, not like us" Jules pressing the fact in my face.

Eve turned her head to Mr. Hanse and ask "Papi tell it to Reese that her brain is malnourished" then standing up and we watching her walking in the back kitchen "You need a hard slap of a wok" she says over the kitchen

"Enough guys! Jade is sick and if it's me in her shoes aren't you guys doing the same??" asking all of them and Eve peeking from the small kitchen window holding a huge wok.

"As your closed friend? We will support you all the way but if in case you're my ex girlfriend?" Steph pausing, she sighed in distress before shaking her head in disagreement "and I have a current girlfriend? Then I'm sorry but I can't. I mean, what will my girlfriend think of it? Or just imagining her feelings? I know you're trying to be understanding as much as you can considering that Jade is sick but....Reese how about you? Is she even considering yours?" and that is how my chest tightened again for the second time now.

"And really? Giving Jace a free pass to college in London just to lookout for Jade?? Isn't that sound so fishy?" Jules asking everyone but me.

Then we turned all our heads to Mr. Hanse "Not surprising at all" he speaks as we wait for more "Jace mother is Jade mother ex girlfriend . Maybe she's looking out for Jace" and that all adds to our throbbing headache for another new information "Jace mom and Jade mom their love story was well known in our batch although they are the upper grade. They broke up because Sarah was sent back to London by her parents after knowing about their relationship and they were against. It's the typical rich girl-poor girl love story but also the typical conservative family that couldn't accept their daughter having a girlfriend. Jace mom was Sarah's first love that she had to let go but when she died, Sarah heart died with her and right now, it's her way of self reconciliation"
