Eden

I was enjoying my Friday night, sitting on the sofa watching a movie with Bruno. I heard my phone ringing and I answered, not bothering to look at the caller ID.

"Hello?"

"Wassup baby" I heard Shedeur's voice on the other end making me quickly pause the TV and sit up.

"Shedeur, hey."

"Listen I'll be there in bout 20 minutes to get you so get ready."

Before I could ask questions he hung up. I quickly rushed into my bathroom to shower, fix my hair, do quick makeup, and put together an outfit. I finished in a nick of time, walking outside to get in his car. I definitely had a mess waiting on me when I got back.

"Look at my baby, you so pretty." Shedeur said making me blush, "Thank you, you look handsome too." I said returning the compliment.

"Shit I try. Don't even ask where we going cause it's a surprise." He stated while pulling out of my driveway.

I wondered what he had up his sleeve, especially at this time of night. After a good 15 maybe 20-minute drive we pulled up to the aquarium. I looked at him with a raised eyebrow.

"We breaking into the aquarium as a date?" I questioned and he shot me a look, "Just come on."

I exited the car, and he took it upon himself to grab my hand as he lead us to a side door, unlocking it with a key.

"If you must know, my mom happens to be friends with the owner, so I asked her to let me borrow the place for the night." He explained as we started to walk around, looking at all the different exhibits.

"Look at you pulling connections." I teased making him chuckle.

It was so peaceful without their being a large crowd of people here. We got to linger at certain exhibits for as long as we wanted, just talking, and really enjoying one another's company.

"Is that it?" I asked realizing we were back where we started, "Nah I got one more surprise for you." He said leading me to an area we hadn't been. I looked seeing one of those tunnel areas and in the middle of the walkway was a candlelit dinner for two.

I could've cried at that moment; this was easily the most romantic thing somebody had ever done for me. "Shedeur, baby, this is beautiful." I said truly in awe as he pulled my chair out for me.

"Glad you like it; you can eat and then we can talk." He said and I couldn't get rid of the smile on my face. I never would've expected him to be such a romantic.

We both got lost in time as we talked about everything up under the sun. There were so many stories and things I hadn't known about him that made my feelings for him grow even stronger. I was sad when he said it was time to go, wishing I could keep reliving the date over and over again. For the drive back home we sat in a comfortable silence, his free hand resting on my thigh, rubbing it gently.

"You had fun?" he asked while pulling into my driveway and putting the car in park. I nodded my head "Yea I did. Thank you for tonight Shedeur."

"You don't got to thank me; this wasn't nothing for real. This just the beginning of me trying to show you that I'm serious about being with you. I'll take you on a million more dates, each one better than the last. It don't matter how complicated things get Eden. I just want you." He said now looking into my eyes with that same look that always made me feel entranced.

"You want to come inside? I think we need to get to know each other a little more." I spoke, leaning over the arm rest until our lips were inches apart. He nodded his head slowly, making me smile. We both exited the car, and I took his hand leading him to my bedroom.

I was a firm believer that boys, no men, deserved to be rewarded for good behavior.

I woke up the next morning and decided to be extra nice and go make some breakfast. He'd mentioned liking French toast and I luckily had all the ingredients for it. He woke up just in time as I was plating the food.

"Good morning bae." I said smiling, he had me feeling like I was on cloud 9 so I'd happily call him every nick name in the book.

"Damn you coming like this?" he asked as he sat down at my island. I handed him the plate of French toast, turkey bacon, and eggs, also giving him a side of fruit and a water bottle to drink.

"Well last time you were here you didn't get any breakfast, so I figured I'd step it up a bit." I said as I watched him take a bite.

"Oh you gone have to start bringing me to-go plates to class or something." he said making me laugh, "Not class, but they'll be waiting on you in my office."

I walked around the island so I could sit next to him and eat the smaller portion that I had prepared for myself.

"Listen though if we're going to do this we can't just be spontaneous about it. I wanna make a schedule for when we're going to see each other outside of school." I said and he nodded "We can do whatever you want."

I actually had faith for the first time that we could make this work, that it was possible for us to have our happily ever after.
