Eden

I sighed as I sat up on Shedeur's bed throwing on one of his shirts. We were only supposed to be stopping by his apartment so he could pick something up, but he had other things in mind. Ever since that New Year's party things had been great between us.

"Are you ready to go now?" I asked. He was laying up under the blanket, scrolling on his phone. "In a little bit."

I shook my head, getting up to go to the bathroom, when his bedroom door swung open.

"Aye bruh you got another charge—" his friend started but froze as he looked at me, and then Shedeur in his bed. "Oh shit..." the friend said processing what was going on.

"Drew what I told you about knocking man?" Shedeur sighed now sitting up in the bed. "My fault, um, imma just go." He said quickly closing the bedroom door back.

I turned around and looked at Shedeur, I didn't know his friends so I didn't know if I should be worried or not.

"I'll talk too him." He said as if he was reading my mind. I nodded and went into the bathroom, getting myself together a little before throwing on my actual clothes. Once I was finished Shadeur was back dressed, he looked up at me.

"Ready?" he asked, and I nodded, "Did you talk to him?"

"Yea, he aint gone say nothing." He said while standing up, "You sure?" I hated to question him, but we did not need a repeat Carmen situation.

"Yea I promise, aint nothing to worry about. Let's go."

I took his word for it, and we left the apartment. It was Spring semester which meant I wasn't as worried about being with Shedeur because he was no longer in my class, but that didn't mean I was just going to air out all our business either. Shedeur on the other hand didn't care what he did in public anymore, he didn't see the point in remaining private, but I'd convinced him to wait until Summer at least.

My birthday was coming up and I'd done my students and myself a favor, cancelling class for the whole week.

Since both Shedeur and I had free schedules he took it upon himself to plan us a get away to New Orleans. I was having the time of my life, I'd never been, and was so grateful to experience this with him. We had just gotten back to the hotel from visiting Bourbon Street, and I was tired.

"Here I got you another gift." Shedeur said, pulling out a small neatly wrapped box. I smiled as I opened it and gasped looking at the diamond bracelet inside.

"This is so pretty bae." I stated holding it up to examine it further, "Look at the inside."

I flipped the bracelet so I could see, and inside the words 'I love you' were engraved. I couldn't do anything but smile.

"I love you too Shedeur, here put it on for me." I handed him the bracelet and extended my wrist so he could clamp it on. Once he finished I pulled his head down pecking his lips multiple times.

At the end of everyday I was grateful to have this man in my life. I didn't want the trip to end, but it was soon time for us to go home. As soon as we got back to my house I flopped down on the sofa, tired from traveling.

"I'll be back over here later; my mom asked me to stop by, so I'm gone see what's going on." He explained, placing a kiss on my lips "Okay, text me." I stated watching him walk back out the front door.

I decided I'd take a nap in the meantime, making myself comfortable on the couch, allowing sleep to take over.

Shedeur

I was in a great mood as I entered my parents home. I figured my mama just wanted to get my opinion on something like she usually did. When I reached the living room I saw everybody but Shelomi, immediately all eyes were on me.

"What's going on?" I asked looking around at all of them, "Take a seat son." My dad said. I walked over to the empty sofa, sitting down.

"Honey, Shilo says you're in a relationship with the woman he brought home for Christmas...is that true?" my mom asked, and I chuckled a little bit, nervously and out of disbelief if we're being honest.

"Yea it's true ma, I saw it with my own eyes!" Shilo snapped, "So what you stalking her?" I questioned.

"Y'all see how he didn't say yes or no." Shilo said, my father burying his face in his hands. "Neither did you." I retorted making him scoff.

"I went over to her house to try and reconcile, but your car was there. I didn't bother looking inside, I had seen enough." Shilo explained.

"I had been seeing her way before you, just to clear that up. We was just on a little break when you had your little rendezvous with her, but we back now." I said leaning back into my seat.

"But Shedeur, she was your teacher." My mother said shocked, I assume they had taken the time to figure out how we met. I shrugged, "Not no more." This response seemed to be enough to anger my father to the extreme.

"I mean seriously how dumb can you be? You really jeopardizing your image over a woman the same age as your brother?!" he yelled but I didn't flinch. "I won't lie I think you're overreacting."

"You know what I'm going to that school tomorrow and getting her fired." My father said. It was the only thing he'd said that had gotten a reaction out of me.

"For what? What's that gone do? You think I'm gone leave her alone because she out of a job?"

Before my father could respond, my mother interrupted him, her focus on me. "You really care about her don't you?" she asked, "Oh come on you can't be serious." My father said irritated at her response.

"Deion nothing else makes sense! The girl is a professor, she has her own money so she can't be using him for money. He's not in her class anymore so it couldn't have just been so he could pass. He put serious thought and effort into dates for her, he loves the girl for crying out loud!"

Her words sent the room into silence. I glanced around at Shilo who was now looking down, and my father who just sat there angrily.

"You can go Shedeur. Your father's not going to go to the school, and your brother isn't going to say a word to anybody."

"I already did..." Shilo mumbled, making me lock my eyes onto him. "Who?" I asked.

"I was mad, thought you had just gotten with her to get back at me or something, so I found her brother's IG and dm'ed him." He explained.

'Fuck' I thought to myself. I rushed out the house, speeding to get back to Eden. I kept her in the dark last time something like this happened, so I wasn't going to make that mistake again. I walked in her house and saw her sitting on the sofa staring at her phone in shock, I was too late, she looked up at me.

"We need to talk."
