Chapter 4 - what's next?

"Azizah is nana's girl right?" said a strict looking man,

"da-da-ba?" the 6 month old giggly baby blurted,

"na-na, say na-na" requested the man,

"bu?" the cute bubbly baby blurted again,

Adam sat there laughing at the hilarious conversation between the two, "Mom, your husband has gone crazy", he said to his mother,

"I'm already crazy but for your mother" said the man,

"Imran have some shame, don't embarrass me in front of our kids", Pareesima replied in a shy tone,

"Papa, now give Azizah to me, you've played with her enough" Raina told her father who was holding the baby ever since she came home,

"Azizah wants to go to her khaala?" he asked the baby for her permission while her mother-Laibah entered the hall,

"Raina don't you dare touch my daughter, I came here just to see my parents, move away from my child", Laibah angrily said while pushing poor Raina away,

Raina was clearly upset and without staying went to her room silently,

Adam's anger was fuelled when Laibah hurt Raina,

'First Aarzu and then Raina' he thought, he couldn't handle the criticism anymore; he got up from the sofa and left.

Pareesima saw all of it, she could sense her sons anger, she looked at Laibah; gave her a soft smile and said "you guys carry on, I'll prepare the bed for you and the baby",

"Kabir will stay too", she informed,

Pareesima nodded her head and went to her son, she knocked on the door and slowly walked into the dull grey room which told a lot about Adam's personality, everything was subtle and threw minimalist energy;

"Adi beta?" she called out for him, there was no answer,

The strong wind moved the heavy dense curtains of the room and a fine figure of a man leaning along the railings could be seen,

"Adi?" she went to her son and placed her hand on the rigid back of his shoulder,

He turned towards his mother and sighed,

"What are you doing here? It's so cold, you'll get sick, mere bacche", she said while caressing his shoulder,

"Whats death to dead?" he said with a gloomy expression on his face,

"Annoyed because of Laibah?"

"Mumma, she never understood us, she has forgotten it all, she was being so mean to Aarzu outside and now she was being mean to Raina"

"She wasn't always like this Adam and you know it, life has been cruel to her"

"But that doesn't mean she has all rights to insult and look down on everybody"

"Yeah- I agree she's wrong, Allah use aqal de"

"Mumma you know that life has been cruel to me as well, and you also know the intensity of that cruelty is 100x more than what she's been through, but I never treat people that way, I never blamed anybody for all the things I suffered"

"Why can't she understand Mumma? I've lost all of my teenage working and studying and I'm still struggling- do you know how hard it is for me to keep all of this together?-"Adam's voiced cracked and he turned his face to the other side,
