Match made in heaven

chapter 16- Aarzu's proposal.

"Aarzu, we're finally done with exams", Raina said wrapping her bestfriend in her arms,

"I know Raina", she looked at her, "its been a week since your engagement?", her eyes held surprise,

It was already a week since her engagement. It meant it was already a week since Adam flew to spain for his meeting. He was so excited about it, his proposal was finally accepted after a year. His dream project. He was filled with joy and excitement though it meant that he couldn't see or meet Aarzu. Same with her, she didn't see him from a week, her heart was unhappy. She didn't tell Raina it was hurting her to not see her brother, she would start teasing her more and neither could she call him on the phone.
It was okay if she called him but she didn't want to, she felt holding him too close would make him go away. Also she didn't want him to know about how she got his number. She was silently waiting to meet him again. His flight was on Wednesday, 3 more days to go and she could see him.

Before going on his business meeting, he met Aarzu. He told her about how he has planned things for their future.
"I'll talk to papa after i come back", he told her as tears fell down her eyes, "will you send me with tears?", he cupped her face softly with his hands, her tears increased, "Meri jaan, I'll be back in a week", he said trying to console her,

"10 days", she corrected him and wiped her nose,

"Yeah 10 days, it won't change a thing"

"But you'll be away....what if-"

"No 'ifs', come on smile now, I'm leaving and I'll come back to you, where else could i go?", he said moving a step back so as to see her face clearly.

She gave him a sad smile and her brown hair fell upon her wet cheeks when she lowered her head, he tried to move them but she looked more pretty, 'she looks prettier when she cries', he thought, but he didn't tell it to her...he didn't want to upset her by telling it, it sounded rude not like a compliment she'd like.

"Raina is waiting", she said moving away and wiping her tears, "Allah hafiz, fi amanallah", she held his hands and planted a soft kiss on them, "i hope you succeed", saying this she turned her way back and got into the cab that she booked 10 minutes back, just before Adam came to meet her.

He stood silently, his eyes staring at her back, the strap of the heavy bags didn't affect him now, the pain in his shoulders had vanished. His stomach clenched itself. He wasn't hungry, it was the guilt. The guilt of leaving her behind. The guilt of making her cry. The guilt of leaving. His eyes were fixed on the car that went out of sight in few seconds. He didn't want her to leave, he suddenly felt insecure, 'why am i feeling this? Should i go to Spain?', he started questioning himself.

Pareesima and Imraan were out of town to attend a wedding of one of their close friends daughter, they'd only be back on Tuesday, since Raina didn't want to join them she made an offer of staying at Aarzu's place. She didn't like attending weddings, especially this wedding. She didn't like the bride, she was almost of her age. The constant boasts her parents made about their daughter pissed Raina,
They used to call her 'the perfect girl', it would trigger Imraan. All parents wish good for their children, they might go out of ways to provide for them but sometimes their motivation seems like an insult. It was the same to Raina. Indeed she was Imraans most loved child but there was a time where she went into depression and developed BPD due to the constant comparison between her and 'the perfect girl'. She had to work hard in every aspect just to fail once again in her father's eyes.
She was staying with Aarzu at her place until her parents came back.

"Bilal, don't you think layla likes me?", Raina told the little boy who was petting the cats, "she wants to cuddle with me",

"Layla is a friendly cat, she does that to everyone", the boy said picking the cat from Raina's feet and handing it to her,
