The duo didn't know how long they were in that cage, both of them wondering if Ashley had made it alright and hoping the young blonde didn't get captured by one of those things. m/n knew for a fact, after all this is over, he's not gonna be able to sleep for a while and his therapist is gonna be having his sister become one of their clients. the young boy glanced over at the older male, watching as he was cleaning up one of his guns, the young boys thoughts were running and it made him want to vomit from how anxious he was starting to get. What if Leon fails in getting them out? What would their parents do when their kids are left to become one of those mindless killing machines? He couldn't imagine. His mouth was dry as he parted his lips, "Leon. Are we going to make it?" Leon stopped and turned his head to the young man, surprised that that was the words coming out of his mouth. He put his weapon away.
"I promised your father I would protect you and Ashley with my life, and that's exactly what I'm going to do." Leon told him which caused m/n to anxiously stim, his thumb going to his mouth as he looked at the older man.
"But what if something happens Leon? What if you fail? What then, huh?" m/n doubted, tears slowly welling in his eyes as he looks at the man. Leon's eyes hardened at him, knowing that the younger male was terrified and it was the first time he actually showed it in front of the agent.
"m/n, nothing will happen, we'll be fine. I'm not going to let anyone else die" he promised, but what good is a promise when you can't keep it in a situation like this? Leon took him by the shoulders and rubbed them as he tried to look the younger male in the eyes, "okay. You'll be fine, Ashley will be fine, everyone will be fine." m/n slowly nodded his head.
"Okay. Yeah, yeah. Okay." He breathed deeply and exhaled, his anxiety slowly disappearing as Leon patted his shoulder with a smile.
"There, no need to worry," he said.
"Leon! m/n!" Shouted the voice of Ashley above, causing the two men to look up to see Ashley on the balcony.
"Ashley?" Leon questioned in surprise, "are you all right?" He asked her.
"Ash, am I glad to see you. I was so worried!" m/n said to her, going next to Leon and grabbing onto his shoulder.
"Yeah! Give me a sec, I'll get you both out." She said, going to try to push the dead corpse off the lever before noticing a key falling to the ground. She picked it up and went back to the ledge.
"Hey! Try this!" She shouted, throwing the key at Leon who caught it.
"Can you make it down? I can catch you." Leon said up to he. Their little group was almost whole again, m/n couldn't wait to be next to his sister again. Ashley looked down, nodding as she did so.
"Yeah, I think so." She said. Leon pulled m/n with him to the door, putting the key inside to unlock it, but the two were startled when they heard Ashley scream. The two went back towards her and saw a giant bug creature taking her away with him.
"Ashley!" m/n exclaimed as Leon shot the back of the creature, which didn't phase him as he walked into the room she just came out of. "Dammit!" He cried in frustration, he just wanted Ashley back with them. Why are these fuckers only targeting Ashley and barely trying to get him back? It just doesn't make any sense to him. He heard a ring through Leon's com, looking back he saw the man listen to the voice. m/n went over and leaned on Leon so he could hear the person better, even if he has super hearing.
"Leon. Changed your mind yet?" He heard Ada say over the coms, which made the younger boy roll his eyes.
"Ada?" Leon questioned.
"Assuming you haven't, I've got a tip for you. Seems like something big is about to go down in the throne room. Babysitting's tough, huh." Was the last thing she said before hanging up.
"Hey! Ada? Ada!... perfect." Leon sighed in frustration as the two made their way out of the cage. "Same as ever..." he grumbled.
"Your girlfriend is really starting to piss me off," m/n spoke, walking towards the door that Ashley went through earlier. Leon eyed him and followed.
"She isn't my girlfriend," Leon told him, walking next to him into the next room.
"Could of fooled me." He shrugged as he pushed open another set of doors that led outside. Leon sighed, knowing he wasn't gonna win this argument. Yes him and Ada had history together, but that woman keeps dying on him. Literally. How can he keep a relationship with someone who always double crosses him? He was startled out of his when m/n shouted in surprise, the pistol he still had in his hands and being used on a giant bug that exploded once it died, covering a shocked m/n with its guts. Leon ran towards him, trying to not burst into laughter at the sight of him.
"Oh." Leon chuckled, whipping some of the guts out of his eyes.
"This isn't funny Leon, it's so gross." He shuddered as his eyes focused on Leon who was laughing at his misfortune. This was the first time in a long time Leon felt happy. Looking at the taller male in front of him, he could already tell he was falling hard for him.
"I think it's hilarious," he said causing the other male to shove him by the chest.
"Shut up," he grumbled, crossing his arms with a pout as Leon continued to laugh. m/n loved that sound. He smiled as he looked at the happy agent in front of him who couldn't control his laughter.
