Trying to not step on JJ as I got out of bed was going to be a task. He had made a big enough bed on the floor but somehow ended up right next to my side of the bed. So instead of having some footing when I swung my legs over, I had to immediately jump over him. Trying to not make any noise just because my room was definitely hitting max capacity that doubled as an obstacle course to get out of. Once I managed to make my way out to the bathroom, I contemplated navigating my way back through. The idea sounded good, but only because I was hoping for an extra few minutes of sleep.

There really was no reason to even try and go back to sleep when they all were going to be getting up eventually. I held my head as I walked down to the kitchen. The drinking from last night was finally catching up and it hit me with the worst migraine.

"You making breakfast?" Pope asked, making me jump as my eyes were closed and I had been leaning on the counter for some hangover support.

I turned to him, "Trying to fight off some demons Popey." He started looking through the kitchen cabinets. When he turned around with the stuff to make coffee, I silently thanked him and began making breakfast.

Mid-pancake flipping, my mom walked through the door. Pope left the room as she stepped in to give us privacy. She didn't say anything to me. All she did was grab something out of the pantry before heading back out of the room.

I continued flipping as she walked down the hall, "Hey mom." She walked back to the kitchen doorway with her bag still on her shoulder.

"Yeah Laney?" I had to gather what I wanted to ask. My morning pee had consisted of me rehearsing so here went nothing.

"Can I move back in with dad?" Instead of answering, she simply scoffed and walked away again leaving me with my unspoken response.

As I finished up the pancakes, Pope made his way back into the kitchen with a sympathetic smile on his face. "So, how'd that go?" I guess he heard enough of it.

"Not the way I wanted it to."

"She'll come around." He leaned against the counter next to me while I finished the last piece of bacon.

"Anyone else awake?" I could hear movement from outside of the kitchen, but it could've been my mom.

"John B and Sarah were talking when I walked out. Kie was waking up too. JJ's still snoring though."

Everyone joined in the kitchen while I grabbed the paper plates and syrup. I watched them load their plates up and head toward the table, "You gonna eat Lou?" I let my gaze wander out of the kitchen and my thoughts ran to JJ. Maybe if he was still sleeping, I could just go back in for a few more minutes too.

"I think I'm gonna go lay back down. Just save some for me and JJ." They nodded and I walked back to my room. He must've moved when everyone got out of the room because he was snuggled into my bed. "Scoot." I whispered and he did so.

We laid in silence for a few minutes before he threw his arm around me and pulled me into him. "You smell like bacon." His morning voice was literally music to my ears. It definitely drove the whole 'crush' thing home.

"I just made bacon."

I felt him move and suddenly his head was chilling in between my head and shoulder. I couldn't see his face, but I could feel him breathing on me.

"Why didn't you wake me up?" He picked up his head and allowed me to look at him. I could tell he was a little scatterbrained seeing no one else in the room. The empty room must've made him think he missed his ride home.

"Everyone else just got up. You're good." He nodded and laid back with one hand behind his head and the other wrapped around me, pulling me onto his chest. "Would it be bad if they did leave without you? I mean minus them leaving you behind, you'd get to hang out with me."
