"The universe is always speaking to us, sending small messages causing coincidences and serendipities reminding us to stop, to look around, to believe in something else, something more"

Veronica's POV:-

The next morning was not easy to wake up, those pills were still working their magic. But I could not miss College. And so I got up and got ready despite my natural instinct to procrastinate and stay in bed.

If I would've let Brenda make me breakfast I would've been late so I just ran out the door yelling "I will eat something at school don't worry, bye brenny". Punctuality for me is very important, I hate entering the class late and having eyes set on me wondering where I had been.

I drove as fast as I could and was in through the door of the class just as the bell rang. Late.

"I'm here!!"

By now I was fighting for oxygen, Mr. Hall gave me a disapproving look and waved me to my seat. I think I was in before the bell so he let it go. As I walked People stared like I was an alien. See that was what I was talking about. Even if they have seen me a hundred times  they would stare like I had done something sinful by entering a class after them.

When I got to the back Caroline was sitting with creep, as if on que he gave me a smirk, grunting I took a seat beside him. Great just Great!!!

"What happened to you? It looks like you went to get fresh air from the moving blades of a helicopter" instantly my hand found its way to my hair, and damn they were in a mess. I guess this may have been a reason to stare. After a few strokes they were a bit, keyword "bit" tamed. I shouldn't have let the window down on my way here.

"Don't worry you look human" Eric whispered.

"Shut up".

The rest of the day went by the same way, and I had this strong urge to punch creep in his face with a brick, wait make that two. Whenever he called my blondey the urge tenfold. Oh and news flash, now he was always with us.

The whole week passed by the same and dad was again at his apartment, the usual. Even after all this time I am still not used to this.

Caroline had asked Eric to come for the movie night plus Ash also bought her boyfriend or I would say her one week stand. I think she dated almost every guy in the pub they went to, but both the girls were fun even though a bit crazy. Hey i'm not complaining, Ash did bring fun guys with her to our hangouts sometimes.

It was now Wednesday on the second week of college, I had just come back home and was on my way in when I saw Brenda at the foyer. She was going somewhere. Upon asking she told me she was going to get some groceries. I offered to take her and she was more than happy about it. I ran to my room for a quick change  in something comfortable and when I reached my car Brenda was already in it.

"Veronica?"

"Hmm?" I replied my eyes on the road.

"It's your birthday next month; you're going to turn 20". She reminded me.

"I remember Brenda".

Birthdays were a bit emotional and weird for me, even though Care, Lin and Ash went crazy going to the club dragging me with them. Not that I didn't have a good time it was just the fact that dad forgets almost every year and Brenda reminds him. He shows up the next day with an expensive present. It was always like that, and it seriously annoys me. I have told Brenda not to remind him but who can stop her. The woman practically lives for me and her son's well being.

As if noticing the quietness in my voice she spoke.

"Are you seeing any boy in college?" She asked me hopefully. Huh?....what does a boy have to do anything with my birthday? Where is she going with all this?
