Way after two am, after yet another sleepless night, Arizona stepped into the training hall. After laying hours in bed, not being able to catch any sleep, the blonde decided to start an early training.

Today would be the day where Teddy and herself picked her new partner.

Emory's replacement...

Hearing Teddy say that they needed to replace Emory had been hard on her. But she wasn't prepared for what Teddy had told her right after. Arizona and whoever would win, would need to dance their dance. She wasn't ready for it.

Tugging her necklace with the silver ring on it into her shirt, she started doing her warm ups. Her breast length hair had been in a messy bun, not really being cared about.

She put in her air pods, put her phone onto her bag which she had discarded in the corner.

It's been seven a half months now, and yet, dancing didn't quite feel like it used to feel. The excitement didn't rushed through her body, the emotions she felt weren't the ones she was used to. Dancing used to be her coping mechanism, now she only did it because of the money.

It was just as bad as it sounded, but when Emory left she took away the light that always had surrounded Arizona.

Arizona had watched one of their records at home just a few hours prior. They had recorded them dancing out of fun, not knowing that the universe had other plans for them.

The music slowly started playing, Arizona started slowly dancing. Like she used to do. Putting all her emotions into her movement, she let the tears run down her cheeks.

How could the dance she used to dance to so carefreely to became such a hard task?

When the part approached where Arizona and Emory would have danced together, she danced alone. Imagining Emory would be holding her, would ever so lightly caress the blondes back or hand. She'd imaginge that Emory would whisper sweet little nothings into her ear and how she would steadily press her fingertips into Arizona's hips while lifting her up.

As the song came to an end and Arizona and her partner would stand in a tight embrace, holding each other as close as possible while only ever so slightly taking steps back and forth again, Arizona let herself sink to the ground. Barely able to breath steadily as the music faded out. She reached up and pressed her necklace against her skin. It hurt, it left slight bruises but it made her believe that Emory would be near her.

Arizona let herself lay on the ground, the ground she just danced their dance on, the ground that Emory and her fell in love.

Slowly being able to control her breathing, Arizona let her mind wander where they would be now if Emory wouldn't have left that night. She closed her eyes letting her imagination get the best out of her.

Walking into the apartment, Arizona could smell Emory's all too famous chocolate chip cookies. As she entered she saw the green eyed woman dancing around the kitchen island, covered in flour, about to clean up the mess she made.

"Hey..." Arizona said, not being able to take her eyes off of her girlfriend.

"Hi! How was practice?" Emory asked curiously as she walked towards the blonde.

"It was fine. What are you up to?" She asked. Emory, who had secretly been waiting for Arizona to finally get home, took some flour she still had on her hands and smeared it against Arizona's face.

Taken by surprise, Arizona quickly grabbed hold on Emory, her eyes closed, protecting her from flour getting into her eyes. They lost balance and before either if them could react, they landed with a loud thoud on the ground. Emory put her hands up, wiping the flour off if Arizona's face.

"Hey..." she said in a more seductive way as blue eyes slowly reopened. Lifting her head, Arizona met Emory's lips in a gentle kiss.

"I didn't feel like cooking so I ordered us pizza."

"But baking was what you felt like?" The blonde teased her girlfriend with a raised eyebrow. Which she earned a playful glare for.

"I'll get changed. When do you think the pizza arrives?" Arizona asked while she got herself back on her feet.

"Like ten minutes maybe." Emory answered.

That night turned out to be somewhat special to them. They ate their pizza while watching tangled, one of Emory's favorite movies, decorated the cookies together with edible glitter and went for a late night walk to one of their all-time favorite places. A park with a great view over the city, with a few benches and a set of swings.

While pushing Arizona on one of the swings, Emory prepared herself for what she wanted to say next. She planned all of this through, a thousand times in her head, but as the time came her words were stuck in her throat.

She walked around, the tiny box on a hidden pocket in her jacket.

"Remember our first date?" She asked with a loving grin on her face.

"How could I forget?" Arizona asked laughing. "It rained! My hair was a mess after just five minutes..."

"I know." Emory said quietly.

"It's our place, isn't it?" Arizona asked. Their first date had been at this park. They had a picnic in the trunk of Emory's car and later on swinged on the swings.

The first time Emory told Arizona she loved her had been here. Again, they had been seated on the swings.

"It is." It was clearly how in love the two were. Everyday they would fall harder for one another. Everyone could see that.

"It's not a proposal. Yet. But it's a promise ring to never leave one another. I love you more than life itself. I could never live without you." Emory said as she pulled the box with the ring inside out. It was a plain silver ring with the date engraved they agreed to be girlfriends.

Arizona pulled out the ring that had been safely tucked between her shirt and her chest. Still laying on the ground she let the tears fall once again as she held onto their promise ring as much as she could.
