Dancing with Arizona was... it took some getting used to. The blonde would often miss the beat, mess up the steps or did some other mistake which made her furious.
Callie did notice the difference compared to Mark. Both, Arizona and Mark were professionals and had dancing in their blood and yet it felt totally different.
One time Arizona was so frustrated with herself that she left the hall and didn't come back for two days. "Be patient with her. I know it's hard but once she's all warmed up it will get easier." Teddy had told her that day.
It's been almost three weeks since Callie got accepted. It wasn't at all like she had imagined but she couldn't complain. Her co dancers were all really kind. They grew to some kind of little family.
Since they all stayed at the same hotel it was easy for them to make plans and hang out together.
She grew close with Addison. They spent most of their free time together, practicing, having lunch, decorating their rooms.
Right now they were getting ready to go to a monthly 'celebration'. Teddy had explained to them that they used to do that regularly with he old team.

It wasn't too late after that they were seated in one of the most expensive restaurants in the city. Apparently Teddy had some connections and was able to get the prices a little down.
The conversations flewed easily. Teddy told everyone how she and Arizona met in fifth grade after Arizona got a B on her test had a full blown mental breakdown because she had wanted an A. Arizona had just rolled with her eyes, saying that Teddy would tell this story every time.
"Do you remember how Emory used to get us free drinks?" Teddy asked Arizona. The team had shared tons of funny stories, each if them having a good time.
But when Teddy asked that, a pinch of sadness washed over Arizona's face. Callie brushed it off. She'd be sad too if she'd have to find herself a new partner when her old partner was performing like this.
But before Teddy could continue Callie's phone made itself known. A quick look on the phone and Callie knew that she couldn't ignore it.
She signalled that she needed to go out for a minute before standing up and leaving quickly.
"Hola mamá."
"Calliope, mija, thank you for taking at least this call. You know, Aria always answers my calls." Callie once again got to hear from her mother about how her sister was better in everything she did. Now, Callie and Aria got along great.
While Aria was living the american dream, a house, a husband, three kids and a golden retriever, Callie didn't. Their mother judged Callie for that. And it seemed like whatever Callie did was wrong. With everything she did she gave her mother a reason more to prefer Aria.
Because Callie didn't have a husband, or kids, or a golden retriever and neither did she have a house. While Aria joined their fathers hotel business, Callie worked in a Mexican restaurant to get money between her dance contracts. After she had told her family that she wasn't gonna join Carlos' Business she almost got disowned. If it wasn't for Aria talking some sense into their parents.
To say that Callie loved her sister was an understatement. That was probably the reason as to why Aria was the only family member that knew about Callie's sexuality.
She knew that Lucia and Carlos thought that homosexuality was a sin. They wanted to protect their children from going to hell. So every time Callie went to visit them she had to hide who she really was, lie about having boyfriends and all.
"How are things going?" Lucia asked her daughter. It sounded so forced that Callie almost believed that someone had to remind her that she had two daughters.
"It's alright. I just signed another big contract and-"
"Oh so you're still living in your dreamland where you get money with dancing? Come on! Open your eyes. It's never gonna work. You should join Torres Hotels." Lucia cut her off. It was obvious how much she was against her daughters choice of career. Lucia wasn't one to make a big secret out of it.
"The people here are really great, you know?"
"Yeah I bet they force you to say that." Lucia couldn't hide the snarky sound of her comment. But she didn't really care.
Callie opened her mouth again to reply. But before the word could leave her mouth she looked up and through the window where her colleagues sat, laughing, drinking and enjoying themselves.
"You know what?" Callie took a deep breath before catching the nerve to continue her sentence. "If you just called to judge me, I have better things to do!" And with that she hung up and put her phone on silent mode.
She was an adult for christs sake! She didn't need to put up with the judging behavior of her parents. It didn't take long until her lockscreen lit up again. This time it was her father's number calling. Oh heck no!
Just as she was about to turn around to open the door again, Teddy exited the restaurant. "Hey, are you alright? You left quite quickly before, so I just wanted to make sure that everything is fine."
"Oh yeah, don't worry about me. It was just family." Callie looked down at Teddy's hands, seeing a pack of cigarettes there. "You smoke?"
Teddy looked at her confused. "Wha- oh no. Those aren't mine. Is here a bin somewhere so I can throw them away?" Teddy then continued, walking around attempting to find a bin.
"I believe there was one in the other corner." Callie helped her out.
"Hey um, what's up with Arizona these days? Didn't she already performed this choreography?"
Teddy looked her deep in the eyes, deciding on how much she could tell. "I'm sorry but it's not my place to tell. My advice is to ask her. It's a long story." Teddy threw the cigarettes in the nearby bin and went without another word back in. Callie stayed behind for a second before following her inside.
