June 1999

Stevie was seven months pregnant and she had Lindsey Buckingham wrapped around her little finger. She kind of loved it. Although, she was on bed rest, so he didn't really have much of a choice; but still. It felt nice to be taken care of.

They had a scare last month with the Lizzie; Stevie thought for sure she had lost her. Thankfully that wasn't the case; they would have been devastated. The doctor (and Lindsey) had both ordered her to be put on bed rest for the duration of her pregnancy.

Max was loving it. At nine months old, he loved nothing more than spending the day in bed with mommy while daddy waited on them hand and foot. Sometimes Lindsey made him get out of bed and helped Stevie sit on the floor in attempt to get him to walk, but no such luck. That kid wanted nothing to do with walking. All he wanted was to snuggle with his mother and eat ice cream.

Stevie was lying in bed with Lindsey's head resting against her stomach while he sang quietly to Lizzie. Max was asleep on her other side and she was comfortably settled against the headboard, running her fingers through Lindsey's hair. He was singing California Dreamin' and she couldn't help but sing along.

Stevie smiled when the song was over, "and that, Lizzie, is the song I first sang with your daddy and that's how I knew I loved him."

Lindsey turned his head to look up at her, "really? That's when?"

"Well, yeah. I mean, I wasn't normally that brazen. I thought you were cute and that you had the voice of an angel."

"Nah, it was you who had the voice of angel," Lindsey says with a smile.

Stevie leans down to kiss him and she giggles, "come on, take Max to his room and let's do it."

"I would love to, but you know that's against the rules," he replies.

"Fuck the rules. When have you ever cared about rules?"

Lindsey rests his hand on her stomach and rubs it gently, "when it comes to our babies."

She smirks at him, "you can be gentle."

He laughs, "right, like you would go for that."

"Okay," she says with a sigh, "you're right. Thanks a lot, Elizabeth."

They both laugh and he leans up to kiss her, "I love you, you know."

Stevie kisses him back, "you had better after knocking me up again....and I love you too."

Max awoke briefly, glanced up at his mother before snuggling closer to her, and falling back into a deep slumber. Both parents laughed.

"Honey, you've gotta take him out more. Take him to the park or something," Stevie says, glancing down at her baby boy.

"You won't let me because of the media," Lindsey points out.

"Well I'm sure it would be okay to take him to the beach for a little while. He's getting sluggish being holed up with me all the time."

"I thought you wanted to keep our family secret until Elizabeth gets here," he says.

"Don't use that tone with me, Buckingham. I'm on bed rest for a reason. I can't be stressed and you know it's going to be a media frenzy when they find out," Stevie explains, trying to make him understand her reasoning behind her decisions.

"I know. The last thing Lizzie and you need is to be stressed out."

Stevie nudges Max gently; trying to wake him up so he didn't keep them up all night, "Max, wake up!"
