Well, after nearly a YEAR; here it is! The next chapter of Turning Tables!
Now, you may be wondering woah, why did Kayla change her username. Well, that's because I now share this page with Amy (Laceandpaperflowers )! She's been helping me with this story for a long time and she's even begun writing parts of the chapters too. This story now belongs to BOTH of us and we hope you continue to enjoy it! -- Kayla
Alright guys......here we go!
August 1999
"Lindsey!" She cries out as she futilely tries to get out of bed. She quickly gives up as another contraction rips through her.
Lindsey, of course, comes rushing into the room with Max in his arms, "what is it? What's going on?"
Stevie groans through another contraction, "it's time."
"Time for wha....." He immediately stops himself, feeling like an idiot. "Shit! She's coming! Okay. Okay! We've got this. Your bag is by the door and I'll go get your mom and Max."
Stevie just stares at him for a moment before he pauses and looks at the baby in his arms, "okay then, one thing down."
"Before you do anything else, I need you to help me."
Lindsey nods and sets Max in his pack and play before moving to help Stevie up. He helps her change her clothes and down the stairs before he runs back up to wake Barbara and retrieve Max.
Within ten minutes, everyone is piling into the car; Barbara in the back, feeding Max the bottle Lindsey was meant to give him earlier.
"Jesus Christ Lindsey! Slow down!" Stevie exclaims, as he swerves through traffic at a speed that is definitely illegal.
"I don't want you to have her in the car! None of us know how to deliver a baby!"
Stevie can't help but laugh, "honey, I'm not going to have her in the car. I may not even have her tonight. It's really okay."
She grabs his arm tightly as another contraction hits and she bites her lip so that she doesn't cry out and scare Max.
Lindsey glances over at her while they're stopped at a red light, "you're in a lot of pain."
She nods, "it's normal, okay? Don't panic. As soon as we get there, they'll give me some pain medication and an epidural and I won't feel a thing."
"Can I...be in there? I mean when you're giving birth?" He asks, somewhat nervously.
Stevie smiles at him, even though she's got a tight grip on his arm again, "of course you can."
They arrive at the hospital ten minutes earlier than what it would usually take to get there, thanks to Lindsey's reckless driving. Stevie had to admit, she was impressed that he had gotten them all there in one piece.
Lindsey pulls up to the front entrance, "Barbara, if you can help her inside, I'll go park and get Max."
"Linds, don't leave me," her eyes look panicked and Lindsey is suddenly torn.
"Baby, I'll only be a minute, okay?" He kisses her on the lips and lets her mother help her out.
They walk into the hospital and she is immediately escorted to a wheelchair. She groans through another contraction, "it's okay to scream," her mother assures her.
The check in process is quick, but she refuses to go anywhere without Lindsey. Luckily he comes running through the door with her overnight night bag and Max, who was still miraculously sleeping.
