(A/N the drawing above is my interpretation of Jim's markings. if you have your own image in your head about them then i can't tell you what to and what not to think, but this is here for the more visual imaginers. yes this is with the influence of the heartstone)

"Jim?" Claire's voice sounded from the phone on the floor, snapping Jim out of his trance. he quickly crouched down and picked it up.

"I'm sorry, can you repeat that?" Jim asked, hoping to any god that what he just heard wasn't true.

"uh yeah, we were talking to Steve and Eli on why we were gone and why you were still gone. Steve got loud and, fortunately, only got Mary and Darci's attention and now they want to know everything." Claire explained. Jim knew she was cringing on the other side of the phone. "i thought i'd call you to see your thoughts." she said

"sorry, Jimbo." Jim heard the faint voice of his best friend attempting to apologize over the phone. Jim sighed and pulled the device away from his ear. he set it on the floor and put them on speaker as he rubbed his face.

"just one more problem to add to the list." he groaned, looking down at his almost black phone screen as the only thing visible was the small profile picture of his girlfriend. the dark screen reflected his current looks and Jim noticed that he had never seen his own facial markings. once again reminding him of another current problem.

"what other problems do we have?" Toby's voice cracked through the device and Jim could tell he was also now on speaker. they must have been in a safe place for them to feel comfortable to talk out loud.

"well, Vendal thinks I'm a changeling and my powers are going crazy." Jim stated blankly as he picked the phone up and held it as he sat in his nest of pillows and blankets.

"What's a changeling?" a high pitched voice asked from the other side, making Jim have to try and pin point who the voice belonged to.

"a bad guy, Pepperjack." that voice was too defined to forget. Steve and Eli were on the call as well, most likely by Toby and Claire's choice.

"changelings are trolls that can turn into humans." Claire said. "was that because of the crazy powers?" her voice more pointed at her boyfriend.

"kinda, sorta. i'll explain later." Jim said, shaking his head. "so, Mary and Darci want in?" he sighed, rolling the thought over in his head.

"wait, trolls that can turn into humans? is that not what he is?" Steve's voice was quieter but Jim could still hear the question.

"no, changelings are born trolls and can turn into a human that they stole the face of. Jimbo was born human and was turned into a troll by a wizard. the switching between the two is new." Jim could hear Toby's hushed explanation. it sounded like Claire took him off speaker and she walked away from the boys as their conversation got more and more muffled.

"we could use all hands on deck." Jim sighed, gaining a surprised squeak from Claire. Jim laughed.

"so you want to tell them?" Claire asked. "i mean, it's kinda hard to keep it from them at this point but, you want to tell them." Claire's voice hitched for a moment.

"tomorrow's Saturday, right?" Jim asked, seeming to ignore Claire. "tell all of them to meet under the bridge. we'll explain things then." Jim added, falling back onto all the padding of his bed.

"under the bridge? are we showing them trollmarket?" Claire laughed. being back in bed, Jim's mind was trying to turn off again. forcing himself to sit up to not fall asleep while talking.

"probably not but its a good, shaded place to meet ARRRGGH! and Blinky." the half troll yawned. Claire laughed at her boyfriend.

"ok, Romeo. get some sleep, we'll see you in about two hours. love you" Claire told him, gaining a tired smile from the once trollhunter.
