Strange, but familiar

Jim groaned as he started to wake up. damn, he had the worst headache. his eyes fluttered open and he came face to face with a black cat. not something he expected as he was quick to get to the other side of the couch. now right side up and a little more awake, Jim could recognize the cat just from the glasses alone.

"Archie?" he asked, a little confused. as he looked around at his surroundings he could tell his was in the book store. his memory of the place was a little hazy as the only time he was ever inside was when he was being controlled by the green knight but he knew it was home to the wizard. The so-called cat was even more surprised for the stranger to know his name. Archie knew he had never met this boy or had seen him as a customer from one of Douxie's 3 jobs.

"who are you?" the dragon started to interrogate. he had no problem speaking to the boy as he knew Archie's name and it was evident the teen wasn't human. nor was the dragon ever really nice to anyone he didn't trust, and currently he knew nothing of this person so why would he need to trust him. Jim, however, was taken aback by the harshness in the cats voice. as Jim only ever knew him to be friendly and a great ally alongside Douxie.

"jeez, what'd Douxie feed you for you to be so grumpy." he mumbled under his breath as he remembered that this Archie does, in fact, not know him. rubbing his head to try and relieve himself of his headache, to no avail, he looked down and caught sight of his bear torso. memories of last night flooded back to him. now very embarrassed hes sitting in his friends living room, practically, half naked.

"i'll ask once more. Who. Are. You?" Archie pushed, transforming into his dragon form. this boy not only knew his name but also his familiar's, and he truly did seem to know them as he wasn't frightened by the talking cat with glasses. Jim crossed his arms and stuck his hands under his armpits in an attempt to cover his exposed chest. still taken aback from the harsh interrogation like questioning.

"im James Lake Jr. or Jim for short, and i would like to know where my clothes are." Jim said calmly but matching the intense glare the dragon was giving him. shifting uncomfortably, he noticed the figure in the doorway watching.

"sorry about him, mate. he's just a bit on edge." Douxie said trying to excuse his familiar's behavior. Jim turned to look at the wizard as he walked in with his shirt and jacket folded in hand. "you hit your head pretty hard. you doing ok?" Douxie asked as he handed the clothes back to their rightful owner. Jim took them with a small smile.

"thanks. and other than a headache, i think I'm good." Jim said putting his shirt and jacket back on only not zipping up the front of his blue turtle neck. "well aside this." pointing to his chest as it still glowed but was no longer sending him into any pain.

" you seem surprisingly calm for someone who has a glowing chest." Archie accused, still in his dragon form. as he got off the arm of the couch and walked towards Jim. the teen unfazed as he approached. Jim knew what Archie was capable of, but he knew he wouldn't actually do anything unless need be. so Jim wasn't scared of the dragon.

"Arch! cut it out. you don't need to be mean." Douxie tried to reason with his familiar. although still a little shocked that this high school boy wasn't scared of the angry dragon in front of him. Archie listened to reason and shifted from dragon to cat. "although he does have a point. you seem very calm, how long has this been happening?" scared to know how long this poor boy has been dealing with this kind of power overload.

"this is new, maybe a couple of weeks. It's only the second time it's ever bothered me. heh, better than a shard of dark magic to the heart, that's for sure." Jim joked, but his joke went right over the others heads. they were terrified that someone so young had to go through that and astounded that he could joke about it. the familiars gave each other a horrified look. one Jim caught on to, as his smile turned. "sorry" he whispered.
