3rd person pov:

as it's still the weekend, a sunday at that, the 17 year old girl is just laying in her bed with a novel, that she's recently bought in her hand as she unmovingly turns it's pages.

just when she gets to the second last chapter, her mind wanders off to somewhere else; danielle, her best childhood friend of 16 years, whom she's liked since, like, forever.

usually, the girl would just brush off her thoughts about the older girl, but recently the latter has been on her mind too much to 'just brush it off', so she sees herself thinking about danielle a lot, probably not a good thing, as it's about her best friend, her soulmate and her sunshine.

suddenly, the cat-eyed girl feels a pang of deep regret washing over her, which is probably elicited since she's been drifting apart from her best friend, from her whole friend group, as well, but their group chat, which has been active since the day that mj, hn and hy have proposed their idea of going to yunjin's halloween party in autumn and to 'live a bit' has succeeded, so maybe there is a possibility that at least the five of them are back on old terms; good terms.

right when haerin gets that last thought, she marks her book with a self-made bookmark, as she's suddenly gotten a really good idea, delaying her book reading to later.

with the genius idea in her head, the cat-like girl smiles to herself, picking up her phone and pressing on danielle's chat, where they've last talked this morning as the girl presses call, the latter's phone ringing immediately.

after a few more rings, which felt like hours to haerin when there were actually just five of them, the older one of them accepts the call, her sweet voice ringing through haerin's ears like music, "hae! what's up? you usually never call so suddenly..?",the girl on the other line questions, to which haerin holds back a giggle before letting out a sigh.

"dani unnie, i need your help with something, that's why..", the younger girl answers, getting a hum in reply from danielle, "i don't understand our english assignment.. i tried understanding it but my brain just isn't working!!",haerin rambles, not wanting to make her voice seem desperate but the sentence coming out in a desperate tone.

after a short silence from the other line, she lets out a confused sound, "huh? again, haerinnie??
i mean, it's okay to not understand but i thought you understood it when i explained it to you the other day..",danielle reflects, obviously confused.

"i did, but i just can't use it in an assignment.. especially not a three paged one!! so can you please help me, unnie? come over to mine???", the seventeen year old replies, her voice still sounding pleadingly, to which danielle lets out a sweet giggle.

"of course i can help you, rin, just make sure that you tell me earlier, because it's due tomorrow, i'll come over to yours right now, okay?",the latter answers, to which the younger one lets out a content hum, hanging up before she has to giggle out loud.

actually, she did understand the assignment, she just hasn't started yet and as she recalled on the other few days, where she exchanged her notes with danielle in english, she saw that this would be the perfect opportunity to spend more time with her beloved soulmate, i'm indeed a genius, she grins to herself, patting her own leg proudly.

danielle pov:

after haerin called me saying she needed help with the english assignment, i immediately knew something wasn't right, her expression on thursday seemed the opposite of what she told me just now, three days ago she seemed really sure of herself after we exchanged notes and now she seemed really unsure, but i don't mind, as long as i get to see the cat i'm happy to help.

when i get closer to the kang's house, i recall our oldest memories of our childhood together:               on the first day that we met, we walked her to her house first, as haerin's parents couldn't pick her up so the younger girl was crying, wailing for her parents.

while i witnessed everything, asking my parents to walk her home once they've arrived, this memory is still in my head vividly, almost like it was yesterday.

but it was in fact 16 years ago, meaning that i was two and haerin could barely walk as a one year old back then, so my dad asked me to let haerin sit in my stroller, to which baby dani agreed and gave the baby cat a lollipop to cheer her up, babbling to her about almost being home, and and and.
