haerin pov:
"haerin?", danielle calls out, shaking my shoulder softly as i open my eyes. i fell asleep?? what the.. was it all just a dream? i dreamt of my childhood best friend confessing her feelings to me and of us making out? that's some crazy stuff right there.
"sorry unnie.. how long was i asleep for?", i shoot an apologetic look towards dani unnie, her eyes coated with softness and grace, heck, she doesn't wanna know how much i've fallen for her.
"it's okay, rin, you didn't sleep well this night, you told me this morning, it's all good, i guess you didn't sleep for too long", nielle unnie replies, her voice so so soft.
as dani unnie smiles at me sweetly, i can't help but look at her with lovey dovey eyes, suddenly averting my eyes towards the english essay in front of me, remembering why i called my best friend over.
"right, so you have to write about half a page more of the english essay and you understood what it's about, so go on and write, hae, i'll answer any questions about it, fighting~", dani unnie encourages me, our 'break' seemingly over now.
3rd person pov:
*about 30 minutes later, 3:30 pm*
finally, after 1 and 1/2 hours (not including haerin's nap) of excessively writing an essay about the importance of kindness, haerin proudly presents her finished essay to the girl on her right, who's been watching haerin write all this time while also answering the younger one's questions about the essay.
as danielle carefully takes the essay from haerin, who is observing her every move, she reads over it, feeling overly impressed and proud of the cat-eyed girl, who has a smug smile on her face.
"this is great, hae! are you sure you needed my help? ..or did you just call me over so that i can keep you company?",danielle utters, smiling swooningly at haerin, who still has a proud smile painted on her lips.
while the cat-like girl processes what danielle just said, she suddenly giggles, danielle raising an eyebrow in reply as she also begins to chuckle. after a while of the two teenagers just giggling, which quickly turns into shared laughter, haerin answers the older one's question, "the latter, nielle unnie", she says with a joyful voice, neither of them being able to stop smiling and giggling.
once the laughter has died down, danielle and haerin just stare into each other's eyes, lost in thought and the mutual contentment about carelessly laughing and joking around together,
i missed you.
they both say in their heads, the words being so close to leaving danielle's mouth that she has to bite her lip to surpress herself from saying it, oh how they missed each other's presence.
suddenly, the sound of the door bell ringing brings the two childhood best friends back to reality, so they both jolt up in surprise, hitting each other's heads by accident.
"i'm sorry, kang, really, i didn't mean to", danielle pouts sweetly at the younger as they've opened the door to greet haerin's older brother, jungwon, who just got back from basketball practice, as the two girls are both sitting on the living room couch, ice packs on their heads, getting a snicker from across the room, from no other than jungwon.
"it's okay, dani unnie, it was an accident, no biggie", the cat-eyed girl retorts, "also, jungwon oppa stop laughing so stupidly! don't you have anything else to do?", haerin adds, glaring at her older brother by two years.
"what? it's funny how you hit each other's heads, can't i express my second-hand embarrassment for you?", jungwon teases his younger sister, who sticks out her tongue towards him as he waves goodbye to the both of them, going upstairs to his own room.
as the two childhood best friends just sit in silence next to each other, they begin giggling again, finding the situation just as funny as jungwon finds it, "sorry about jungwon oppa, nielle unnie, he's stupid", haerin almost cries out of joy, getting a shake of the head in return from danielle, who can't stop laughing either.
