The next day since everyone was out and I was bored I got everything all packed up and ready to go for the trip, but that didn't take very long and I ended up just grabbing my purse and took off.

I ended up downtown. The streets were familiar as were the shops. I saw a few things but nothing really peaked my interest. As I decided to go ahead and just call it a bust I noticed a lady having trouble putting up a window sign.

"Here let me help you."

"Thank you." She sounded kindly.

"You just open, I don't think I've ever seen this shop before.

She nodded and once we got the poster up announcing her opening I followed her inside. "feel free to have a look around." She said. She was a haggard old woman. She hunched forward as if she had a bad back and one of her eyes was white with blindness. She wore a vibrant magenta scarf on her head and a long shift dress of autumn orange and a brown suede vest over that. Her arms were adorned with multiple intricate bracelets of silver and gold that jingled when she moved.

"Here let me show you something." The women said.

I watched as she moved to the glass case, that housed jewelry. There was something about this age addled women who had a sort of grace about her.

"Ahh yes, right here." She said waving me over. She took out a velvet display with different bracelets. "Treasures from all around the world, come and see."

They were all nice.

"Here try one." She said holding out a dangly gold charm bracelet.

"It's pretty." I said honestly. But another of the bracelets caught my eye.

"Oh you have a good eye," she said as she placed the gold bracelet back and picked up the silver bangle bracelet I was looking at. "Try it on child."

I took the bracelet from her and placed it on my left wrist. At first glance it was covered in small little stars, but as I looked at it further I noticed It had small wording etched into it. Instantly I panicked.

"What's on here?" I asked.

"What do you think it is?" She asked with a small smile.

"Uh, I-I don't know, a spell or something m-maybe a curse." I said worried.

"Oh child I would never carry anything with a curse on it and you know fully well that spells aren't all bad." She said knowingly.

I calmed down and nodded. She was right, most magic was good, maybe it's was a spell for life or protection.

I began taking it off when she protested. "Keep it."

"Oh no, I couldn't." I said.

"My gift to you for showing an old woman a kindness today...plus, you never know when you'll need to suddenly get away." she said with a glint in her vivid green eye.

I was at a loss for words and simply smiled as a form of thanks before I ended up leaving.

When I got back home my family was still gone, so I went up to my room.

I got on my laptop and decided I should finally buy my ticket.

I looked at different airports before I got the insanely brilliant idea to take a train.

I knew I had more than enough money to go on a train and just fly back with Roxy. Because every dollar I've ever received has always gone into my piggy bank and when I turned fifteen my grandma helped me open a bank account.

So I logged onto Amtrak and purchased a one way from Dallas to San Diego.

A few days later I hugged my parents good bye and then hopped into a waiting taxi, no one knew about my train ticket and I wasn't trying to hear my mother complain about the dangers of a young girl riding a train by herself, so I declined their offer of taking me to the Airport.
