"Auntie! How have you been?" Woo-jin gleamed as he wrapped the older woman into his arms, rocking them side to side."Oh, Woo-jin! You look so grown! How are you doing? Are these your friends?" She smiled big, looking to the two standing behind him. They politely bowed to her and said hello. "Ah, yes. They are some friends I box with. Three orders of stir fry please, ma'am!" He smiled, rubbing her shoulders softly in a caring gesture.
The woman headed to the kitchen to begin cooking their meals as the three of them took a seat, Geon-woo and Ha-na sitting across from Woo-jin. Ha-na couldn't believe this was once again happening. Sitting with both her current best friend and her old one. She couldn't lie, something about it didn't feel that strange though. It almost felt natural. Even if she knows her and Woo-jin's relationship would never be the same, it's kind of comforting that her past and present have overlapped overnight, literally.
"Shit, excuse me. I have to take this. I'll be right back." Woo-jin stood as his phone rang, heading towards the door and taking a step out. Ha-na and Geon-woo sat together, the memories of last night still continuing to loop through their minds, though neither of them would admit it right now.
"I'm gonna call my mom." Geon-woo whispered as he pulled out his phone, earning a small nod from Ha-na.
"Hey, mom. I came out to eat with Ha-na and Woo-jin." He hummed.
"Hi, honey. Tell them I said hello. What did the doctor say about your face?" She questioned. "They said it was healing perfectly, don't worry too much about it. All three of us will stop by the cafe today and clean up, so you just rest."
"No, honey. You don't worry about it. I'll go do it later today. Hang out with your friends, yeah?"
"It's okay, we'll do it. I'll call you once we're heading back home." Geon-woo said as he heard that their food was ready. "I'll go get Woo-jin." Ha-na whispered, placing her hand on Geon-woo's shoulder as she got up, telling him he could stay seated.
She took a deep breath as she pushed the door open, ready to call over Woo-jin, but stopped dead in her tracks when she heard him on the phone as his back faced towards her.
"Come on, just help me out this one time. It's not for me, it's for some friends." Woo-jin argued with the other through the phone. Ha-na felt rude for eavesdropping, but she also couldn't stop herself.
"You know I'll pay it all back on time! There won't be an issue." He huffed. "Jesus, dude, we can get a second tier loan from anywhere. Please give me a first tier loan. I am seriously, seriously begging you. Because I care about these people, man. I have to help them out."
Ha-na's lip quivered, hearing the desperation in his voice. They had only been somewhat speaking again for less than a day, and he had known Geon-woo for that same amount of time, yet he was begging for someone to help them. He was going out of his way, putting himself into debt just to save theirs. Her eyes brimmed with tears, suddenly feeling thankful Woo-jin had shown back up. Maybe he really was a different person now. Maybe everything happens for a reason.
