Chapter 32:

Rosie's POV:

After finally get some some quiet last night I fell into a peaceful sleep. It didn't take long before I drifted into the wondrous land of dreams.

I lay here in bed thinking back over the previous nights events and also the dreams I had following the confrontation in the kitchen.

My mind kept replaying my encounter with Luke in the kitchen over and over again. It was the first time we properly talked in weeks. When I closed my eyes the first thing my brain projected was the image of Luke standing there in the middle of the kitchen in his underwear.

I don't know where I got the guts but I hugged him. It felt like a bold move but it felt right. I don't want to admit it but I missed him.

My alarm goes off and I roll out of bed. I grab my work clothes off my desk. As I change my clothes I notice the penguin I bought Luke a few weeks back. I make a mental note to give it to him at an appropriate time.

I brush my teeth, pull my hair back into a neat ponytail and then put on my make up. I then make my way to the kitchen to get myself some breakfast. I check my phone and I don't have long until Brad gets here. I turn on the kettle for a cup of tea and pour a bowl of Rice Krispies. I eat the cereal while waiting for the kettle to boil.

I also write a note for Luke telling him that I should be back from work by 2pm and we should go for lunch. I leave the note on the coffee table in front of the couch. I look at Luke and he looks so innocent while he sleeps, except for the lip ring.

I make a cup of tea in my travel mug. I like my tea the way I like my men, kind of pale and real sweet. I put the lid on my travel mug just as I hear a knock at the door. I rush to answer it, hoping that the knocking didn't wake up Luke.

I pull the door open and Brad is standing there with a smile too bright for this early hour of the morning.

"Good morning," he says cheerily, stepping inside the door.

"Morning," I simply answer, turning to get back to the kitchen for my tea. Before I could, I am grabbed by the wrist and pushed against the wall. Brad places his lips on mine hungrily and I find myself too shocked to react.

"Get off me," I mumble against his lips, pushing him away from me. He hits a picture frame on the wall and it crashes to the ground.

I hear footsteps swiftly approaching us. I look up to see Luke standing in the hallway with his eyes alert, looking for the cause of the noise. He stands there, his hair is all over the place and his underwear is hanging low on his hips and I find that I am biting my lip because he looks quite attractive.

"What's going on here?" he questions, looking between Brad and I and the picture frame on the floor.

Luke looks at Brad with what seems to be disgust. Brad's face changed from shocked to angry.

"We were just about to leave and I remembered I made tea and I went to walk back to get it and I bumped into Brad and he hit the picture frame," I lie.

"Okay," he looks between us again, suspiciously. "Have a good day in work," he surprises me with a hug and I don't object.

"Thanks," I say, making my back to the kitchen to get my tea.

I say goodbye to Luke, who is still in the hallway with Brad. Neither of them said anything they were just staring at each other. I walk past Brad and grab his hand then open the door, leaving the apartment, dragging him behind me.

The walk to the car was a lot like the drive to work, spent in silence. Brad parks the car in one of the free spaces but doesn't attempt to get out of the car. He turns to me and I can feel his eyes on me.
