Chapter 35:

Rosie's POV:

It's been a few days since the incident with Brad at the zoo and since Luke had asked my to go on a date with him. He has not said more about it since then.

My bruises are becoming less prominent. They are more of a yellow green colour, all the red faded away. There is still a pain but not as much.

Today is Ashton's birthday and he wants to go . So we were all told to be up early. I honestly don't know where this guy gets all this energy. He wanted to go hiking for his birthday, so we brought him out of the city, and down the country to the nearest mountain range.

We are all in a mini van we rented for the day. Ashton insisted on driving because it was his birthday. That was the worst idea ever! We have gotten lost because he wouldn't take our directions.

"Ashton we told you to take the right! Turn the van around!" Storm growls.

"Who knows this road better you the Australian who has never been here before or us girlies who have been here on multiple occasions," Dani says.

"I'm sorry but I thought I seen a sign!" Ashton exclaims.

We arrive at the mountains after another few wrong turns from Ashton, thinking he knows where to go. We all pile out of the mini van and grabbed our backpacks of food and water.

"Are you going to bring the keys with you or are you going to leave them in the little hostel over there?"

"Maybe you should leave them in the hostel? I am not looking for stupid keys on the top of the mountain if they get lost!"

"Yeah good idea," he decides and we make our way into the hostel.

"Hi ma'am can we please leave our keys here while we go on a magical adventure up this giant mountain!" Ashton smiles at the older lady typing on the computer.

The woman looks up at Ashton from the computer. I have never seen someone look so grumpy and annoyed. Maybe she just isn't a morning person like Ashton. She is still giving him a dirty death glare so I decide to go over and help him. I stand beside him and she is still just glaring at the bright eyed boy.

"Hello, we were wondering we could leave our keys and a few other things in one of the lockers behind you? We just don't want to lose anyt-"

I am cut off by a gasp and I know why. My bruises are less visible but are still noticeable. I wasn't expecting it but what can I say? I have avoided any other human contact other than the seven people I came with here.

"Oh sweetie are you okay?" the lady's face softens.

"Yeah. If you think I'm bad you should see the other guy," I laugh uneasily.

"Let me put your things in this locker here."

We put the car keys and two chargers into the locker.

"Thank you," I smile to the lady.

"Enjoy your hike."

"We will," Ashton says back to her with a small wave as we exit.

Everyone is sat at a small, old, wooden picnic bench waiting for us. The sun is shining today and the girls have their heads tilted back soaking up as much sun as they could get.

"Let's get going! It takes two and a half hours! Three if we are slow!" Ashton exclaims.

We all groan in response. After about an hour into the hike everyone is tired. We all complain that we are exhausted and after begging Ashton to stop walking he gives in. But he decides to let us take a five minute break. No longer.
