Chapter 33:
Luke's POV:
The journey back was silent apart from our breathing which made it feel relaxing. We pull up to the apartment and Rosie lifts her head from my chest.
"Are you okay?"
"Yeah, I'm just a bit sore. How about you?"
"Yeah I'm the same. Maybe we should chill on the couch with a few movies and ice packs?" he looks to me with his eyebrows raised hopefully.
"I'll get you the ice packs. You two just make yourself comfortable. Do you want anything else?"
"A cup of tea? And some pain killers the paramedic said to take some as soon as we got back."
"I'll just get the painkillers and a glass of an of water please
We sat down on the couch that was my bed last night with groans from the pain. Rosie reaches for the remote and Netflix appears on the screen.
"What do you wanna watch?"
"Anything but Pretty Little Liars."
"What's wrong with Pretty Little Liars?"
"Nothing. I have just seen every episode and I don't feel like re-watching it, that's all."
"Fine. How about... The Penguins of Madagascar?"
"I LOVE that show!"
"I thought you would," she said before getting up.
Charlie walks back into the room with two ice packs, a bag of ice and a bag of frozen peas all covered in cloths.
"I'll get your painkillers in a minute. I need to find them first," Charlie tells us.
"I'll be back too, I just need to get something. You put it on," Rosie slowly gets up off the couch.
I turn on The Penguins of Madagascar just like Rosie asked me to. Both Rosie and Charlie enter the room but from different angles. Charlie arrived beside me first, handing me a pint glass of water and two painkillers.
I took the two tablets in one go, closing my eyes and swallowing them just as Rosie sat down beside me, with a groan of pain again. She has something behind her back, she is using her body to shield it away. I don't say anything, if she wants to show me something she will but I'm not starting an argument with her.
She took her two painkillers just as Charlie brought in her tea.
"Thanks Charlie. You're the best," Rosie praises as she is handed the cup of tea.
"It's still early so I'm gonna head back to bed before Ash wakes up but if you need anything just shout or ring my phone or something," Charlie yawns at the last part.
"Thanks, love you!"
"Love you too Ro! Feel better," she says kissing the top of her head.
"Thanks Charlie for this morning and all this," I say gratefully.
"No problem, I'm glad you woke me up. I don't want to think what would have happened otherwise," she says tiredly trudging back to her room.
"Neither do I," I say barely audible.
"Luke? Can you tell me why you followed me now?"
I give her a look as if to say 'Really?".
"Luke! You promised me you would tell me!" She whines.
"Okay, okay! I woke up really early this morning. I just couldn't really sleep it is nothing too unusual lately. There has maybe been only one night I slept through but I had a hangover when I woke up," I chuckle, but stop short when I think back to why I went drinking and what happened because of it.
