I walk out of the bathroom after taking my tights and shorts off and start to head to class, somehow avoiding being dress-coded.

"Cute fit," some girl in the hall says.

"Thanks," I say.

She's gorgeous. I recognize her, she was one of the popular girls who were talking about me. Evie Zamora.

"You're the new girl, right?" she asks, "Call me after school. Me, you, and Astrid, we'll all go to Melrose, after school," she says.

"Okay!" I hand her a pen from my bag and she scribbles her number into a page in my Math book.

"All right. I'll see you. Give me a call, okay?"

"See ya."

I feel a sudden rush of excitement course through me.

This town might not be so bad after all.

I walk into the house.

I hate getting the bus.

"Y/n," Jay says, staring at me from the couch, "Dad asked you to get Eliza."

"Tell him I'm busy, today. You get her."

"I can't I'm off out with my friends."

"Okay, well, I guess Liz isn't getting picked up," I shrug.

"C'mon, N/n, don't be a bitch."

"If it's so bitchy, why don't you get her?"

"Cos, dad didn't ask me to."

"K, well, I'm busy so."

I go into the kitchen and I take my phone out of my bag. I find the page in my maths book and type her number into my phone. I press call.

"The number you have reached is not in service at this time."

I roll my eyes and redial the number.

It rings for a few moments before I hear Evie's voice.

Thank fuck. That would've been so embarrassing if she gave me a fake number.

"Hey, who this?" she asks.

"Uh, it's Y/n, what time are we off out?" I ask.

"Change of plans we're off to Astrid's."

"Oh, okay," I say, "What's her address?" I ask.

"We'll just meet you at yours and walk to hers, mk?" she asks.

"Yeah, okay."

"Text your addie," Evie says, "Bye N/n."

-*(After that)*-

"Jayyy!" I say, walking into the living room.

"Yes."

"So, we've been at our new school for around a week now."

Jay nods.

"So, just out of curiosity...who do you think is the hottest girl in school?" I ask.

"I guess, um, Evie Zamora."

"Well, guess who I hung out with today!" I say.

"Bull."

"Astrid's house," I shrug.

"No way."

"God, it's that hard to believe?" I ask.

I don't let him speak, I just dash up the stairs. I drop my purse in front of the mirror. I stare at myself. My life is starting to turn around.
