I was awake at dawn; the only time I ever seem to wake up these days. I put my weapons on in the right places of course, I then walked out of my tent to meet Lord Dain. Many dwarves were running around making sure that the last touches were done.
I walked into the tent to see the advisors and Dain talking about how this will go down. I stayed silent and just listened to the conversation they were having, no one noticed me so I just slipped out. I went to talk to the few dwarves I know, they really are kind if you peel off the thick outer shell. After a few minutes Dain finally came out of the tent along with his advisors and announced that we were going to attack now.
To say I was scared would be an understatement, I've only ever used my swords when I fought with my sister; I would win but I think she was going easy on me or something. We all got on our horses; yeah, all what thousand of us. I got on and just started following others to our destination. As we got closer we could see the orcs were in battle mode as well.
Dain started a speech before we fought "Meus amigos, se morrermos, morreremos juntos... Agora NÓS ATACAMOS!!!" (My friends, if we die, we die together... Now WE ATTACK!!!) Both sides orcs and dwarves started going towards each other with the intent to kill. I found the leader at the front. He was really ugly and had malice in one hand and a sword in the other.
I drew my sword and started killing any warg or orc that came close to me. I also helped the dwarves that needed help, I got a few scratches here and there but otherwise unharmed. I killed another orc when I turned around... Azog stood right behind me but there was no malice in his hands anymore. I put my sword up right as he started to attack me.
Azog started to say something in Black Speech "Du Halbling wirst durch meine hand sterben!" (You halfling will die by my hand.) I didn't really feel like dying today so I blocked his attacks every time he went to kill me. I decided I wanted to tease him a bit; he's getting really angry at me for blocking and dodging his attacks. "Wenn du mich tot sehen willst, musst du dich viel mehr anstrengen." (If you want me dead, then you'll have to try a lot harder than that)
Azog looked taken back that I could speak Black Speech, that gave me a chance to attack. I raised my sword and brought it down on Azog's arm, cutting it off. Azog gave a loud and painful cry, he then took his sword in his other hand and slashed it across my face. (A/N: Imagine Kakashi's scar on his eye.) I cried as well.
Azog grabbed his arm trying to stop the black blood coming out but he couldn't. Azog's army started to retreat past Moria and I kicked Azog over the cliff that we were fighting on, he started to scream at me again. "Ich werde zurück sein, und wenn ich das tue, wirst du zusammen mit der linie von Durin von meiner hand getötet!!"
(I will be back, and when I do you will be killed by my hand along with the line of Durin) I ripped a piece of cloth from my clothing, I made sure it was long enough to fit over my eye until I got actual medical help. I started walking towards the others, I heard them shouting that they had won there home back. "Lord Dain, you have won your home back." I bowed down to him.
Dain grabbed my shoulders and pulled me into a hug "Please, refrain from calling me 'LoRd' now, you are family, you fought alongside us and helped us in our time of need. If anything you are family to us now. Please get your eye checked tho." I hugged Dain back and laughed a little "You are family to me as well Lor-er Dain... That will take some time to get used to. I promise I will have it checked, if anything I don't think it did any damage, but it might leave a scar."
Dain released me and put his forehead to mine "Um... I-If I may ask, w-what is this for?" I could feel my face just heat up from the tips of my ears to my cheeks. Dain smiled at me and said "You are family, this is how us dwarves show that we appreciate our family. Or it could also mean that you love someone, but I only did it for appreciation. It is the highest show of love in dwarven culture."
I think I got 10 shades darker when Dain explained that to me. I was also thankful that I could help in some way. After a while I went to have my eye looked at as I promised, as I predicted no harm was done but it will leave a permanent scar; welp, at least I have a tale to tell my younger brother and my adorable nephew too.
Yay, plot twist to the battle huh?
