A detour is what Gandalf had called it but it's been 3 days now and I'm getting impatient "Gandalf, where exactly are we going for this 'detour' thing you kept telling me about." Gandalf looked at me then laughed "It won't be long now dear Bilbo." That's all Gandalf had told me.
We arrived at a strange looking entrance, and I followed Gandalf inside. Looking around at this mystical place, It's even better than what the books say about it. Gandalf laughed at my facial expressions. "tis beautiful, isn't it dear Bilbo?" I had no words to say to him but I only nodded my head in response.
We got off of our horses and started walking towards this beautiful palace. I soon found out the name of this place is Rivendell; No words could describe this beautiful place that I stood in. Altho many of the people I've seen have pointed ears and are really tall as well.
An elf came out to greet Gandalf "Gandalf, bienvenido, espero que tus viajes hayan estado bien hmm?" (Gandalf, welcome, I hope your travels were well hmm?) He asked Gandalf I looked at him, he looked good for an elf "si, mi querido amigo, mis viajes han ido bien, he traído a alguien mas conmigo mientras pasaba. Esto de aquí es Bilbo Bolson."
(Yes my dear friend, my travels have been well, I have brought along someone else with me while passing by. This here is Bilbo Baggins) Gandalf introduced me and the elf looked at me "es maravilloso conocerlo senor, este lugar es hermoso." (Tis wonderful to meet you sir, this place is beautiful)
The elf looked taken back by the fact that I could speak their native tongue but fixed his composure. "It is wonderful to meet a friend of Gandalfs, my name is Lord Elrond." LORD!? Wow I didn't know this place had such a polite lord. I bowed my head a little at him and he laughed.
"Please, you must have had a long journey here. I shall have a room prepared for you both, I do have the prince of Mirkwood here. Legolas is his name, please excuse him if you see him." He turned to walk back inside the palace, me and Gandalf were behind him. Gandalf said he had to talk to Lord Elrond so I excused myself to look around some more.
Before Gandalf left he told me we would be here for a while; Great so now I have to wait to get home to my brother and nephew now. I started to explore the palace and I came across the most beautiful garden I have ever seen, it had a bench right in the middle of it. I saw another elf sitting on it, I walked over and sat next to him.
He mumbled something under his breath in what I think was Silvan language "Chi e questo ragazzo?" (Who is this guy?) I chuckled a bit at his comment and he looked over at me. "Mi scuso, ma mi chiamo Bilbo Baggins. Viaggio con Gandalf il Grigio" (I apologize, but my name is Bilbo Baggins. Journey with Gandalf the Gray) the elf looked at me with sock written on his face.
"Pensavo che nessuno sapesse parlare la lingua silvana oltre a noi elfi di Bosco Atro." (I didn't think anyone knew how to speak the Silvan language besides us Mirkwood elves) I laughed at his comment again, he looked at me puzzled. "Scusa, devi essere Legolas giusto?" (Sorry, you must be Legolas right?)
"I am, pleasure to meet you Mr. Baggins" God calling me that makes me sound old. "Please just call me Bilbo, from one friend to another. Besides calling me that makes me feel old." He looked at me surprised again. "Friends? You just met me." "Yes but it looks like you don't have many friends so what's the harm in making a couple of friends huh?"
He smiled and looked forward towards the garden "I'll be staying here for a few days so you could get to know me then. Of course you can always come to me for your problems, you look like you have a lot on your mind." He looked at me then smiled. I reached over to him and gave him a hug, he looked shocked at first but then hugged back with silent sobs.
I could only hope that his father had been showing him love and support throughout his childhood. I sighed but continued to hug Legolas "Dev'essere difficile essere un principe eh?" (It must be hard to be a prince huh?) Legolas gave a small chuckle and a sniffle.
"Maybe having a friend won't be so bad." he released me and gave me a smile, I gave a smile in return.
Yay, Bilbo has a new friend!
