Chapter 3

Final Day of Exam

The students of grade 12 were crowding the school gate. It was the final day of Board Exam and they had just completed it. Some of the students were coming out of the class while some were already out in the sun.

"Finally. It's done." Kabir said as soon as he reached to the place where Shahzain was standing with Aliza and Aamira.

"How did you do?" Aliza asked him.

"It was good." Kabir replied. "Where is Humera?"

"She has not come out, yet." Shahzain said.

"What is she writing that even the bell could not stop her?" Kabir said making them chuckle.

"Look, there she is." Aamira said seeing Humera walking towards them.

"How was the paper?" Shahzain asked as soon as Humera joined them.

"In Sha Allah, better than yours." Humera said giving Shahzain a smirk making him roll his eyes at her. She then turned to her friends and asked, "How did you all do?"

"Good." They all replied.

"It feels like a burden is lifted." Humera said with a serene smile on her face.

"Oh my, look who is saying." Kabir said dramatically making them all laugh.

They walked out of the school gate where they saw Aamira's father waiting for her.

"Assalamu alaikum" They greeted the older man.

"Assalamu alaikum, kids. How was the paper?" Aamira's father asked them.

"It was good, uncle." Aliza replied while others nodded their head.

"That's great. Aamira, shall we leave?" He asked him daughter. Aamira turned to her best friends and hugged them.

"Take care of yourself and don't forget to call us, okay?" Humera said patting Aamira's back.

Aamira nodded with teary eyes. The girls shared a hug.

"Have a safe journey." Shahzain said waving his hand at her.

"You too, Shahzain." Aamira replied before sitting on her father's bike and leaving.

Shortly after, Aliza also left with her brother.

"Humi, is Rehan coming to pick you?" Kabir asked.

"No, she is going with me." Shahzain told his best friend who in return nodded his head.

"Great then, shall we leave?" Kabir asked the two. He was going to stay at Shahzain's house since Shahzain was leaving for Turkey next day.

Shahzain nodded and the three of them return to their place.

"Shah, wait stop." Humera called on the way to the house making Shahzain stop the bike on the roadside.

"What happened?" Kabir, who was following them, stopped his own bike and asked them.

"Pani puri." Humera said pointing to the other side of the road making the boys shake their heads at her.

"Seriously, Era." Shahzain said before parking his bike.

"You know it's been so long since I had them." Humera told while walking to the stall. "Rayyan bhai does not let us eat any street foods."

Humera ordered panipuri for them.

"Rayyan bhai is right though. You should not eat street foods frequently." Shahzain said.

"Oh, hush up, Shah. You have no idea how strict he is when it comes to food. He is too much of health freak. I pray that he gets a wife who is a literal street food addict." Humera said before taking the pani puri passed by the vendor.
