Chapter 10

Two weeks passed by in no time and it was finally the Nikaah day of Zainab and Rehan. Khan villa was decorated with flowers and lights. The males had already left for Masjid since the marriage was going to take place there.

Shahzain had adorned himself with black kurta and white shawl. Since the wedding was a private ceremony with close friends and families, there were very less people. Reaching the mosque, Shahzain walked to the area where the nikaah was going to held when he got stopped on the way by Humera's younger brother, Hamid who matched the steps with him.

Hamid gave a look over to Shahzain. "Wow, Shahzain Bhai, you look handsome. By the way, who are you trying to impress looking this handsome?"

Shahzain looked at Hamid before bluntly replying, "Your sister."

Hamid looked at him with shock while a smirk spread on Shahzain's face, and he walked ahead leaving the poor guy gaping at Shahzain's walking figure. Reaching the place, he took a seat beside Hashim, Humera's older brother as the Qazi started the wedding procedure. The wedding took place smoothly and it was the time for both the newlyweds to meet each other.

Shahzain's breath caught in his throat as he saw Humera laughing beside Zainab and Ayesha. Humera was wearing a peach colored Gharara suit with diamond earrings and a small necklace. For Shahzain, she was the most gorgeous person he had encountered. He quickly muttered a small "Masha Allah' under his breath before praying Ayat al Kursi towards her.

A little later, Humera walked and stood beside Shahzain. Shahzain smirked seeing her checking him out. "Era, you seem to have forgotten it's not your Nikah. How come you've decked yourself out?"

Humera looked straight into his eye and gave him an evil smile. "Well, it's my turn next. So, I am hoping I will catch eye of some capable man enough for me. By the way, you should also start looking Shah, though, I know it would be hard given your workaholic nature."

Shahzain clenched his jaw and glared at her before joining the other males.

"What did you say to him?" Ayesha, who had seen the man going away approached Humera.

"Something that I know pisses him off, Bhabhi." Humera gave a knowing look to Ayesha. "By the way, how is the little one here?"

"Too naughty." Ayesha said palming her pregnant belly.

"Just like his mother." Rayyan, who had not left his wife since the beginning said to which Humera chuckled while Ayesha glared at her husband.

Rayyan turned serious and looked at Humera. "Did Dadajaan talk to you?"

"He did, Bhai and I think I am ready." Humera replied.

"Don't give answer due to the pressure, Humi. You can wait a few years if you are not ready. I will stop everyone from talking about marriage proposals to you." Rayyan told his cousin. Since Humera was the first daughter of the family, all three Khan brothers were protective of her.

Humera shook her head. "No, I am ready and it's not like I will be married right away. I still have my internship to finish."

"I can't believe how fast the time has changed. You are all grown up and set to marry. I still remember the little Humi Chachi jaan held in hospital." Rayyan said emotionally.

Humera let out a teary chuckle. "Save this dialogue for my marriage, Bhai. Though, I think it will suit Zainab at the moment."

Rayyan smiled and nodded his head.

"I actually wanted to have a talk to you." Humera looked at the couple with a serious face. "It is about the proposal that Dadajaan talked about. What are your thoughts on him, Bhai?"

"From what I have seen and interacted, he is a good guy, Humi. He is attentive and caring. But if you feel like he won't be a good partner to you then you can deny though I would advise you to think about the proposal." Rayyan suggested.

"But what of he gets hope and I don't feel like marrying to him? It might have impact." Humera let out her thoughts.

Rayyan nodded and Ayesha took Humera's hands in hers. "How about you meet him after hospital tomorrow and tell him about how you are not sure and want to take time before taking some decision?"

Rayyan agreed to his wife's words. "You can tell him all your queries. I am sure he would appreciate your honesty."

Meanwhile, Shahzain was looking at Humera while she talked to Rayyan and Ayesha.

"You are staring." Shahzain turned to see the newlyweds looking at him with smirk on their faces.

"You need to step up before someone else takes her." Rehan told Shahzain.

"Exactly, Shahzain bhai. I am pretty sure they are talking about her marriage right now." Zainab nodded at the direction of the subject of the conversation. "I think a proposal came for her three days ago. I saw Dadajaan along with Taya abbu. Tayi ammi and Appi talking in Dadajaan's room. I heard them say that they think the guy is good."

Shahzain stood still with blank face hearing their words. He tore away his gaze from the woman he loved and looked at the couple in front of him. "The two of you loved each other so this happened, guys. I don't think she has any feelings for me."

"I don't think that's true." Zainab said. "I know she cares for you. During her MBBS days, sometimes she would wonder about you and talk to herself about your wellbeing. I know she feels something for you but I have a feeling that she has not realized it yet. Given your history, it is quite hard for her to acknowledge her feelings."

Rehan nodded his head and put his hand on Shahzain's shoulder. "You know, when talked to Bhai about my feelings for Zainab, Ayesha Bhabhi told me something. She said, 'Rayyan did not know I would accept his proposal but still he waited. You would not know if she would accept you until you try, Rehan'. I am giving you the same advice Shahzain. Don't fear and keep your trust in Allah. He knows what is good for you and if Humi is not written in your destiny, Allah would give a perfect and better girl for you. Though, I would pray that she gets married to you. You are the only one who can handle her."

Shahzain chuckled and nodded at them thankfully. After a while, Hamid came there to inform them that it was the time of departure. While returning, Hamid gave stinking eyes to Shahzain who in return smirked at the younger boy.
