--Esmerelda's POV--
"I should probably get back upstairs," Nick whispers as I hold onto the collar of his leather jacket. We have been standing by the door of the apartment for almost ten minutes. His arm is leaning on the wall above me and his other is on my waist.

"You could always come inside," I whisper making him smile.

"I would love to, but I have homework that's due tonight," he says making me frown. He leans down and kisses it away, the smile immediately reaching my eyes, "Tell Kylie I said hi," he adds as he starts walking away. I watch as he makes it to the elevator, his hair a little messier than it started at the beginning of the night.

"How was your date?" Kylie asks as I walk back into the apartment. With my back pressed against the door, I scream making her jump, "What the hell was that?" She asks with a laugh.

"He's like...I like him ya know," I groan covering my face feeling like an idiot, "I haven't liked someone like this since Dylan and I don't want to mess it up," I explain kicking my boots off.

"He definitely feels the same so don't freak out too much," she says.

"The entire date we just talked. I found out more about his family. He told me this story about how as a kid his mom would force him to go to these auditions. So tonight I'm going to be searching up commercials trying to find baby Nick," I tell her with a smile.

"You're a strange woman...but definitely send me that if you find it," she says as I start walking to my bedroom.

"Did you eat?" I ask poking my head back into the room.

"didn't you just go to dinner?" She asks.

"I ate something small 'cause I got all self-conscious about eating in front of a man," I tell her.

"He's literally seen you devour almost an entire pizza alone," she points out as I roll my eyes,

"That was before I liked him as a friend," I counter.

"What's with you guys and not admitting your true feelings? Clearly, you guys have been like in love with each other since Christmas break," she says. I walk back into the room as she laughs.

"I am not in love with him. I hated him like two weeks ago"

"Hates a strong word. Weren't you and him making out at a frat party?" She asks as I roll my eyes.

"Okay making out and love are two different things. Fine...I'll admit there has always been a tension but in no way are we anywhere close to love," I explain.

"The day you say you are in love with a guy is the day the world ends," she teases.

"Says you Mrs. Attached to Harry's hip," I fight back.

"I mean have you seen him? I'd be attached to something else if it wasn't illegal in public," she says making my jaw drop to the floor.

"PAUSE. AYO"

"I AM KIDDING"

"ARE YOU?"

"maybe..."

"Feral. You're feral," I tell her walking to my room. I can hear her losing it as I close my door. The British are taking over our brains. I fall onto my bed and smile at my ceiling thinking about the date. I roll over onto my stomach and take my phone out of my bag.

Nick: I'll be at the studio tomorrow. Do you want to come with me?

Esme: only if we can record the duet we wrote

Nick: there's always a condition

Esme: is that a no....

Nick: Fine. Bring snacks

Esme: obviously

"Stop smiling at the ceiling and tell me what you want," Kylie says coming into my room with a Chinese food menu.

"Am I insane? Tell me honestly. Like I feel insane," I ramble as she leans against the door frame.

"About what? Cause I fully agree but I'm assuming you have a reason," she says as I purse my lips.

"All we did was fight and now all I want to do is write music with him," I tell her curling my legs into my body. I lean on a pillow as she sits down and passes over the menu.

"I felt the same with Harry. Like we met cause of a coffee spill and then now he's always here. Things just happen, ya know? There's no point in questioning it when you're happy," she says.

"You're like Yoda," I tell her as she glares at me.

"You and Harry have to stop hanging out. You're becoming a nerd," she states.

"Speaking of Harry. I was thinking we could go to that stupid school event," I tell her pulling my phone back out, "I keep seeing flyers all over the school and apparently, it's cooler than it looks," I say showing the post they made on Instagram.

"A school-run frat party. Sign me up," she says as I smile, "I love a good party...something always happens at parties," she says with a mischievous look in her eyes.

"I don't like that," I say motioning to her face, "maybe this time I'll be able to have a chaos-free night," I wish out loud. She nods her head and takes the menu back when I tell her my usual. All I need from this party is to have fun and drink, is that too much to ask?
