The challenge between Hana and I commenced in a quiet, secluded corner of the campus.
As the challenge began, the air around them seemed to crackle with energy.
Hana attempted to knock me out with a metal pole that was 100 time stronger than it's original strength, someone interrupted her.
Reiji, with her bandaged arms and maniacal smile, stepped between us.
With a casual flick of her wrist, she touched Hana's shoulder, her physical contact disrupting Hana's psychic focus. Hana stumbled backward, her concentration shattered and she dropped the pole.
"What... what just happened?" Hana stammered, disoriented and confused.
Reiji's eyes locked onto Hana's, and her smile took on a more sinister edge.
"You see, my dear Hana, I have a special talent."
She placed a finger to her lips as if sharing a secret. "I can nullify psychic powers and abilities with just a touch."
Hana's eyes widened in realization, but it was too late.
Reiji reached out and lightly touched her forehead. In an instant, Hana's thoughts became muddled, her movements sluggish and uncoordinated. She tried to fight back, but it was a losing battle.
I watched the scene unfold, clapping my hands. "Well done, Reiji. You truly are a wildcard. Take out as many participants as you want, Reiji. Have fun."
She nodded, her smile never wavering. "Anything for you, Ryo." Reiji's eyes gleamed with sadistic delight as she turned her attention to the other participants.
My phone beeped.
You have won the challenge. What will you award be? I pressed the points option.
+450 points! 1110 points → 1560 points
~Time skip~
I watched from her vantage point as Reiji went on challenging and defeating lower-ranking participants with ease.
As I observed Reiji's ruthless efficiency, a new challenge appeared.
I heard the click clack of a cane. Of course.
Arisu Sakayanagi strolled confidently along with her Class A gang. She had her smug smile on her face and she observed Reiji from afar.
Who is this wildcard?" she mused aloud. "I've never seen her before."
The students of Class A exchanged puzzled glances.
Hashimoto, one of Sakayanagi's trusted allies, couldn't help but smirk. "I bought some information from the resources shop," he admitted. "It seems that the wildcard here has the ability to nullify psychic powers or regular abilities with physical touch."
Sakayanagi's eyes glittered with intrigue. "Interesting. Perhaps she would like to join our side."
With a calm smile, Sakayanagi strolled to Reiji confidently.
"You're the wildcard, aren't you? Unaffiliated with any class. How about joining Class A? I could put your talents to good use."
Reiji's smile remained on her face as she shook her head. "No. I'll never become a dog of a disabled person." Her gaze shifted to the cane that Sakayanagi used for support.
Sakayanagi's smile didn't falter. "You'll regret this." Reiji shrugs. "No, I won't."
The four attackers closed in on the lone defender, their faces twisted with malice. They were confident of victory, for Reiji was outnumbered.
