The Final Chapter: Real
"The lost were playing in the yard
Giving goosebumps to all the Sunday summer trees
Our hands were tangled in the weeds
Moving so softly, nobody can see
Against your morning skin
Well, it's shy like two young lovers walking by
There's a soft, strange kind of odd
Giving company to all the lonely hearts
There's a hundred cigarettes on the ground
And our clothes are still hanging around
And it's nice to be ugly in each other's arms
So we can cry over all the things we were before"
-Patrick Watson
Once they got to her apartment, Iris gave him some hot coffee and a towel to dry off, and a got him a warm blanket. She had him sit on her couch and made sure he was warm enough. He was indeed unbelievably nervous, but enjoyed the warmth of sitting right beside him more than anything.
They spent nearly the whole night talking and learning about eachother and sharing laughter, stories, and even some kisses, which was accompanied numerous ways of touching and holding hands. They savored the ecstatic feelings produced by every little touch, or stroke of a finger and every gentle caress of a hand.
Iris saw how Arthur's leg was bouncing when they first sat down together, but as the night went on, without realizing it, he had stopped. It was 3am and Arthur hadn't noticed it had gotten so late, so he scratched his head and said, "Oh, I didn't realize it was getting so late...Uhh-I..should go. My m-mother might need me"
Iris didn't say a word, but leaned close to his face and pressed her lips into his, now blushing, cheek and said, "No worries, Arthur"
Arthur looked at her and felt like he couldn't move. He didn't want to. He knew his mother would be asleep anyway and that he had just gotten out of a long stay at Arkham, so he bit his lower lip and blurted out, "Ya know, uhh-actually...maybe I don't have to g-go just yet"
