Beautiful Chaos
Chapter 11: Real
When the door slightly opened and Arthur saw Iris' gentle face and soft expression, he did not feel the need to flee like he usually would. Her face brought him comfort and reason to remove his cracked mask and reveal an authentic smile.
Iris peered in first just in case she would be catching him urinating, or worse. "Hey, are you...decent?" she asked, making sure to look away in case he wasn't.
Arthur adored how politely she spoke to him, as if he were a human being.
"Yes", he answered simply, with a soft, raspy voice and even opened the door wide for her to see he wasn't doing anything suspicious.
Iris almost felt bad for being so cautious, but she had to be, especially when I came to men. She noticed he was staring at himself in the mirror intently and he looked so lost.
Arthur finally turned to face her with a timid pair of vibrant green eyes, parted his hesitant lips and said, "Do you think I could use your shower?"Now that he was pretty much fully awake he wanted to shower and rinse off all the filth, blood and madness from the previous night. His mouth was so dry and his body cried out for nourishment, but Arthur ignored those cries as usual.
Iris tried to not blush and appear flustered, but it was almost impossible for her to achieve.
"Well...I guess I don't see why not, but I'm only giving you 15 minutes okay?"
He was back to to staring into the mirror again and didn't answer her.
"Arthur, did you hear me?" she asked, feeling a little sad when she saw the expression on his tired face. He snapped out of his dissociative state and looked at her with reddened, lamentable eyes, but still said nothing. His eyes said it all, well, at least to Iris they did.
At last, his blood stained lips parted and what he asked her was very strange, but also broke her heart.
