Dear M
I like some gardens. The regimented neat and tidy formal ones aren't my cup of tea, but I'd love to grow my own food. I've never had a garden of my own. (We have a patio and a lawn. My wife would go berserk if I planted vegetables. They don't form neat lines.) But since I've been writing to you, I've thought about it more and more. So much so, I approached the council about the allotments here. There's a two-year waiting list, but now I'm on it. One step closer to getting my boots muddy.

P.S. We made the gallery trip a packed lunch thing so that it is more affordable, but there will be afternoon tea at the Tate. I'm glad to see that only one person isn't going, and I'm glad that person isn't you.
