Dearest D
Oh, how I've missed your letters.
I went out with Toph because he was nice and I thought I should. Unlike Greg, he's a sensible boy who doesn't hang out with idiots. He enjoys doing lots of the things I enjoy doing, like cycling to the beach or playing cards (neither of us like cycling to the beach in the rain). I thought I would grow to like him more, and I did, as a friend, but there was never the connection I have with you. He was the brother I'd never had, which wasn't enough. I'm only sorry that we can't continue to be friends, but he says it's too soon to think about that. I've hurt him and I feel terrible about it. All is fair in love and war, right? Or 'in not-in-love and war'. Gah.
Perhaps it is easier to only have friends and never get involved. Will you be my friend again? I'm sorry I was so intense.
I've missed you.
