"Kiritsu!" The teacher's command prompted all the students to stand up. They bowed respectfully in unison to their math teacher, Yamada-san, as a sign of gratitude for the lesson.

When Yamada-san exited the classroom, a collective sigh of relief swept through the class.

"Finally!! Lunch break," Jiro exclaimed dramatically.

His dramatics drew laughter from his classmates. "He's Jiro, the class clown," Reika explained.

"So, Aeris, wanna eat lunch together?" Reika-chan asked as she turned her table and chair around to face Aeris.

Aeris nodded, her eyes lighting up with a smile. "Sure!"

"Reikkaaa-chwaann!" Saeko excitedly called out to Reika.

"Ohhh! Saeko-chwann!" Reika stood up, and the two of them performed a unique friendship handshake routine.

"Hey, Aeris," a voice popped out of nowhere, causing Aeris to jump a little.

"Airi-chwann, don't be a creepy freak, greet properly," Reika scolded Airi. "Airi is a little bit of an awkward person, that's why she's like that, but don't worry, she's nice."

Aeris chuckled. "It's fine."

"Where's Koharu?" Reika asked.

"She said she won't be here because they have a group meeting," Saeko answered.

Aeris tilted her head in confusion. "We have group projects? Why aren't we having a meeting?"

"Oh! No! Koharu is in a different class," Saeko assured Aeris.

"Oh, good," Aeris sighed in relief.

The four of them formed a mini circle, facing each other. They talked about the school, the teachers, their classmates, and shared every bit of information Aeris needed to know.

Aeris was relieved that her classmates had moved on from asking her why she had transferred.

At the same time, she was happy to have found a group of friends on her very first day.

'I hope this time, things will change,' she thought as she savored the moments with her new friends.

"That's the end of the day, go home safely, study well, and —..."

"Rest well!" the students chimed in unison, completing their daily ritual.

Fumiko-sensei proudly nodded. "Oh! I almost forgot. Naoko, please give Aeris a tour around the school."

"Yes, Sensei," Naoko replied, organizing her things before approaching Aeris's table.

"Kageyama Aeris?" Naoko asked, confirming the name.

Aeris looked at her and smiled. "Yes," she answered.

"I am Watanabe Naoko, the class president," Naoko introduced herself, extending her hand to Aeris.

"Nice meeting you," Aeris replied, reaching out to shake Naoko's hand.

"Shall we?" Naoko offered, already heading towards the classroom door.
