Chapter 34: As Night Fell

As night fell, they headed home. Aeris uncle dropped the kids off at their houses.

Aeris gave instructions to the older kids to take a bath and bathe the younger child. She read a book for Asahi, and he eventually fell asleep. She checked on the kids who were still awake but decided to let them off since it was the weekend. Aeris told them that she would be outside taking a breather.

With that, Aeris slipped on her jacket and stepped outside into the cool evening air. She walked leisurely, taking in the serene beauty of the moonlit night. It was then that she spotted the familiar figures of the twins, Atsumu and Osamu, making their way home.

Outside, Aeris encountered the twins on their way home. "Hey! Guys," she greeted them.

"What's up, Nanachan? How's Karasuno? I heard they beat Tokonami High School" Atsumu said.

"Yeah! Isn't that great?" Aeris replied proudly.

"How's school? Did you like it there? It took you some time to visit us," Osamu commented.

"Sorry about that. Many things have been happening, like becoming Karasuno's temporary coach to being their 'comage','" Aeris explained.

"'Comage'?" Atsumu questioned.

"One of my friends said it was 'Coach Manager,'" Aeris clarified with a laugh.

"You became their coach? I thought you wouldn't join the volleyball industry," Osamu said, surprised.

"After hanging out with you guys and with Karasuno, it made me realize how much I missed playing volleyball. That's why I decided to play again," Aeris replied with a smile.

"What!" the twins exclaimed, unable to believe their ears.

"Shhhh..." Aeris shushed them, glancing around to make sure no one overheard them.

"Really? I can't wait to play with you on the court," Atsumu eagerly said, his eyes lit up with excitement.

"Stupid! She's a woman, she can't play with us," Osamu blurted out, his doubt evident in his voice.

"I'll rally to the volleyball association, and they will organize a men vs. women game," Atsumu confidently announced. Aeris giggle at Atsumu's statement

As their conversation flowed, they talked about various aspects of their lives, including school, volleyball, and more.

Aeris woke up early to the sound of her alarm clock, groggily rubbing her eyes as she realized what day it was. Today, she had an important flight to catch.

She hastily put on her school uniform and rushed downstairs, where she found her aunt and uncle waiting for her with warm smiles on their faces. Her heart swelled with gratitude. "Thank you for waking up so early," Aeris said, feeling lucky to have such supportive family members.

Her aunt, Harumi, nodded and gave her a gentle reminder. "Do you remember to say goodbye to the kids before we leave?"

Aeris smiled and nodded. "Just tell them, goodbye and give Asahi a big kiss for me."

They walked out of the house and made their way to the car, accompanied by the soft chirping of birds welcoming the new day. As they drove towards the airport.

After arriving at the airport, Aeris turned to her aunt and uncle with gratitude shining in her eyes. "Thank you so much for having me, Harumi-san and Hide-san. I really appreciate it." She bowed respectfully as a token of her gratitude.

Hide-san smiled warmly and patted her on the back. "You're always welcome, Aeris-chan. You can visit us as many times as you want."

Aeris couldn't help but smile at Hide-san's words. She felt incredibly lucky to have such caring relatives. "I will, I promise. Take care, and please text me when you get back home to let me know you're safe," Harumi said, hugging her niece tightly.

Harumi squeezed Aeris back, a bittersweet feeling in her heart. "Take care of yourself, my dear. Have a safe flight and embrace every opportunity that comes your way."

With teary eyes, Aeris waved goodbye to her aunt and uncle, feeling a mix of excitement and a tinge of sadness. As she walked through the airport doors, she couldn't help but feel grateful for the love and support she had received.

Aeris arrived at Sendai Airport and texted her aunt to let her know that she had arrived safely. She glanced at the time, and it was already 6:30 AM. Thinking there was no time for breakfast, she decided to call Tobio.

Aeris reached for her phone again and dialed Tobio's number. After a few rings, he picked up.

"Nanachan?" Tobio's voice rang through the speaker, surprise evident in his tone.

"Where are you?" Aeris asked, eager to hear his voice after a long journey.

"I'm at home," Tobio replied.

"Okay, hey, can you buy me breakfast on your way to school?" Aeris said

"Have you really already arrived?" Tobio asked.

"Yeah, I'm about to ride a bus," Aeris replied

"Okay, see you at school," Tobio said

"Thanks," Aeris said,.

The bus arrived at her stop, and Aeris made her way towards Karasuno High School, a sense of anticipation growing within her. It was nearly 8:00 AM, and the school was already bustling with students.

She arrives at her classroom to be greeted by her friends and classmates. Smiling, she begins handing out the delicacies she had promised. They all express their gratitude, thanking her profusely. As they indulge in the treats, they engage in a lively conversation about a place called Hyogo.

Just as the conversation begins to reach its peak, Tobio walks into the classroom.

"Nanachan," Tobio calls out, catching her attention.

"Oh, Tobio! Thanks!" Aeris exclaims, reaching out to grab the takeout box Tobio is carrying. Tobio simply nods before turning to leave.

"Hey, congrats by the way on the first win!" Aeris calls after him. Tobio looks back briefly and offers a small smile. "Thanks, Nanachan. See you at the gym." And with that, he disappears from sight.

"W-wow, congrats, Aeris-chan!" Gina exclaims, marveling at the encounter. Aeris, slightly confused, responds, "Congrats? But, Gina, did the I win something?"

With a sheepish smile, Gina admits, "Oh, right! Sorry, I guess I was just really hungry and got my words mixed up."

Aeris chuckles and takes a seat next to Gina. They continue their conversation, this time discussing the achievements of the Karasuno team.
