The Takeda-sensei looked at Aeris with a curious expression. "Are you a volleyball player?" he asked.
Aeris hesitated for a moment. "Yes... but technically, I'm not really active right now. I'm not allowed to participate in official matches. I used to play, though... but not anymore."
One of the boys raised an eyebrow. "Why not?"
Before she could answer, Tobio gave her a playful smack on the back. "Just don't ask why," he muttered, smirking.
Then, surprisingly, Tobio spoke up again, almost casually. "Why don't you be our coach?"
Aeris froze, her eyes wide. "Are you crazy? I'm still a high school student. I'm not qualified to be a coach!"
Tobio waved his hands dismissively. "Come on, you have achievements! Medals, certificates... you've done a lot. That counts for something."
Hinata practically bounced in place, his excitement palpable. "Wait—certificates? You're a really good player?" he asked, eyes shining.
Aeris shook her head with a small laugh. "No, I'm not. But you... Tobio, you know I can't play volleyball with you guys. You know that."
The Takeda-sensei leaned in, looking intrigued. "How long have you been playing volleyball?"
Aeris smiled faintly, thinking back. "As long as I can remember."
The sensei raised an eyebrow. "Have you played at national tournaments? Regionals levels?"
"Yes," she admitted. "I've played at all of those levels."
"Won any medals or certificates?" he pressed.
"Yes, I do. I actually have some," Aeris said simply.
The Takeda-sensei's eyes lit up. "Perfect! You can be their coach. I've been looking for someone, and you'll be ideal for this team."
Aeris glanced at the team, who were all staring at her expectantly. Some of them even looked like they were silently pleading with her. She let out a long sigh, feeling the weight of the decision pressing down on her.
"Okay," she finally said. "I'll do it... but only after the practice match against Aoba Johsai. I want to see how you play first."
Hinata immediately protested, "Why not now?"
Aeris shook her head. "I want to see how you perform against another team first. Watching you here isn't enough. I need to see how you handle a real game."
The team exchanged glances, disappointment flickering briefly before determination took over.
"Alright," Takeda-sensei said, lifting her chin. "We have a coach now. I'll tell the teachers you're officially part of the team. You'll need to fill out the paperwork and Kiyoko will make me part of the team officially."
Kiyokk nodded, already pulling out forms, while Aeris muttered under her breath, half amused, half exasperated, "Oh my gosh..."
