Chapter Nine
Claire’s POV-
When I opened my eyes, it seemed as if everything was lighter. When I saw Cody’s massive arm, I jumped at first. But then realized it was actually him, and then I snuggled closer. During the night, he must have gotten hot, because he had no shirt on. I turned around so that I was facing him. I couldn’t believe he had actually stayed. I just expected for him to go home after I fell asleep or something. But no, he stayed.
He was so cute when he sleeps. I smiled as he twitched a little. “Cody.” I whispered.
He didn’t budge. I tapped his arm lightly. He jumped, which made me laugh. He smiled sleepily. Gosh, his sleepy smile was even hot. “Good morning, princess.” He whispered.
I smiled at my nickname. Then I frowned. “Awww, crap. I’m gonna be late for work.” I attempted to get up, but Cody’s muscular arm kept me from doing so.
“Don’t worry, babe. I took care of it. I called Sam and told her that you weren’t feeling well and asked if she could report you in sick.” I still sounded sleepy, but there was a hint of triumph in his voice.
“And Sam actually bought that?” I asked. Sam was too smart to actually buy that story. She knows me to well.
“No, but your boss will.” He smiled.
I laughed.
“There it is again.” He said.
“What?” I asked, suddenly feeling self-conscious.
“Your laugh. I love your laugh.” He said.
“Really? I hate it.” I frowned.
“Don’t do that. I hate it when you frown.” He said using his oversized thumbs to pull the corner of my lips into a smile.
I couldn’t help but laugh. “Your hands are huge, by the way.”
He put his hands up to mine. It was true. His hands made mine look like that of a five-year-old.
He smiled. “Maybe yours are just insanely small.”
I chuckled. “Ya know, it’s probably just a combination of both.”
He laughed.
“So, what do you wanna do today?” He asked as he sat up.
I couldn’t help but notice his abs. This boy could not be more perfect.
He smiled when he caught me staring at his unclothed upper body. “Do you like something you see?”
I blushed. “Maybe.” I murmured.
“Hey, I have a question.” Cody said as I snuggled back under the covers and closed my eyes.
“What’s that?” I asked.
“Are you ticklish?” He asked.
I wasn’t thinking. “Yeah, why?” I asked. A split second after that he started to tickle my sides. I started giggling uncontrollably.
“Stop it!” I said laughing.
Only when I was almost in tears from laughing so hard did he stop. We sat at the end of my bed, staring at each other. He smiled at me. I smiled back.
“So,” He said as he grabbed a piece of my hair and started playing with it. “What do you want to do today?”
I smiled at him. “I don’t care. But first, I need a shower. I feel like a hobo.”
He laughed. “Do you mind if I get a quick shower too?”
“I don’t mind. But if you use my shampoo, your hair is going to smell like flowers.” I said laughing.
He chuckled. “I’ve got some stuff in my gym bag.”
“Oh, gym bag? You work out? I mean, obviously you work out, but…” Now I was beginning to sound like a complete idiot.
“Yeah, I work at the Gym across the street from the CD Shop. I’m a personal trainer.” He said smiling conceitedly.
“Oh really?” I said. “Well it all makes sense now.” I said referring to his very toned body.
He laughed lightly, then his face got serious. “How much do you usually eat?” He asked, all of the humor had drained from his face.
“Enough.” I said defensively.
“Come on, Claire. I could lift you up with one arm. My point in asking is I want to make sure that you aren’t starving yourself.” He gave me a concerned look.
“Well, I guess I COULD eat a little bit more.” I murmured.
He smiled, brushing a piece of hair back from my face.
“I really need to go get in the shower.” I said as I stood up and walked over to my dresser. I pulled out a t-shirt and a fresh pair of sweatpants. I turned around, gave him a quick smile, then walked into my bathroom. Before I shut the door, I peered out at him. He was in his own little world.
“Cody?” I said. He jerked himself out of his trance then smiled at me. “Make yourself at home.” I said, smiling slightly at him. He nodded then I shut the door.
